[OPEN/PARTY POST] And when you all get shot and try to carry on;

Who: Anyone and everyone who is already a participant or wishes to join the Wonderland resistance! That means you. Yes, you. Get in here!
Where: Fort Dixon-Potter
When: Sunday, 6/15, 9:00 PM and onwards.
Rating: PG by default.
Summary:
The Story:
Sometime before nine o'clock rolls around, those who know their way begin heading towards the resistance hideout in the woods -- or Fort Dixon-Potter, as its come to be known. To any who have been invited to attend but don't quite know how to get there, Daryl Dixon has made himself available to escort people to the meeting, letting people in a few at a time.

Though the resistance's de facto leader is no longer with them, several veteran members have chosen to make use of their resources and bring as many more people into the fold as they can. There's food provided for all who attend: burgers, hot dogs, and other standard cookout fare to be passed around throughout the evening. Notebooks will be handed to all new members, and all will be asked to sign their names on the official roster, for reasons. It's time to discuss how to move forward with Operation: Anti-Jabberwocky. If anyone has questions about the last eight months or so in Wonderland? Now is the time to ask.

((OOC: This log is the follow-up to this post concerning re-organizing the resistance. If you're looking for the full OOC rundown of what the resistance is and how you can use it as a tool ingame, please see the information provided here and here! Feel free to use any of the subthreads below, or start top-levels for your characters as you see fit!))

[It's been awhile since Jo has been back to the hideout, to be honest. This is the first time she's been here since Valentine's Day, and a part of her had been dreading seeing the inside of it all over again. She'd gone so far as to start hosting her private self defense lessons elsewhere in the mansion, using the closets to get the equipment she needed rather than pulling from the resistance's stockpile, but she always knew she'd have to come back sooner or later.

It helped, some, that there were so many people here. It kept her from staring at the spot on the floor near the roundtable and conjuring up memories of the pool of blood and the body that had been sprawled in the middle of it then.

There are new faces. She decides to focus on that, instead. The previous Dean had trusted her with combat training, in coaching anyone who didn't know how to use a weapon and making damn sure every member of the resistance could defend themselves. He may not be calling the shots anymore, but she'd still like to think she's suited for the job -- she'll do what she can. She's seen too much of what's waiting for them if they don't get on their game.

The best place to start tonight? Get to know the new recruits.

She offers a cautious smile as she approaches Natasha near one of the weapon cabinets, extending her hand and offering it to shake.]

Hey. I'm Jo -- don't think we've met?

[Events where she wasn't herself didn't count, she was pretty sure, though the woman's face was at least vaguely familiar thanks to the fabricated memories from the last one.]

[The unfamiliar voice has her turning to greet the young woman with a curious look and a friendly smile. There's something vaguely familiar about her, but she knows they've never come face to face before. She takes the offered hand with a crooked quirk of her lips and a dip of her head.]

I don't think we have. Not like this, anyway. I'm Natasha.

Nice to meet you.

[Her handshake is strong, firm -- confident, if nothing else. Making a strong first impression is always important. A good handshake will usually do the trick, and leaves a much more positive impact than the shotgun and punch to the face that Dean got when they first met.]

You already get briefed on all this? I know news travels pretty fast.

[Jo obviously hasn't met some of Natasha's teammates. A shotgun and a punch to the face would be just about right, actually. Except for Bruce, she wouldn't advise that.

Still, she gives her a crooked smile and lifts one shoulder in a shrug.]

Some. I heard a few rumors before I showed up and I've listened here where I could, but any information you can give me would be useful. What kind of help are all of you looking for? If I know a little more, I might be able to point a few more in the right direction as well.

There's room for just about every kind of help, really. A better place to start is usually to find out what someone's strengths are so we can point them in the right direction.

[She smiles openly, folding her arms as she makes herself comfortable, letting her weight rest on her back foot.]

For example, I take care of weapons and self-defense -- or I did. There's a lot more people now, I'm sure I'll be in the market for all kinds of help. There are plenty of people here who seem to teach self-defense on their own time, too, but even more who don't know the first thing about protecting themselves. When this thing started up, Dean had me making sure everyone who needed lessons was getting them from somebody.

[Well. That was interesting. Natasha gave the girl another once-over.]

I've noticed there are a few here who seem to be a little out of there element if it comes to a fight. [She'd even had one of her 'cousins' request something similar of her.]

You know what you're doing when it comes to weapons and self-defense?

Anywhere else, I'd say they could count themselves lucky, considering they never had reason to learn.

[It must have been nice, sometimes, to not have to worry about anything beyond the mundane. Jo isn't sure she could ever do that. She chose hunting. She was passionate about it, for what she felt were all the right reasons. She was proud of herself for knowing how to take care of herself as well as she did, but sometimes, now and then-- it would have been nice to sleep a little easier.]

More than most, probably.

[She's young, and she's a skinny little thing, but don't let that fool you. She's versatile.]

My dad taught me to shoot when I was little. Kind of expanded from there.

Anywhere else, yes. Here it's not much of a help. Not if the events ever spring up something serious instead of rogue piglets and musical numbers. As entertaining as they might be.

[She's still assessing the girl and the easy way she states that has her nodding, giving Jo a faint smile.]

What do you use? [A valid question when she has an archer for a partner, a team leader who gets his defensive and offensive weapons backwards, and a genius billionaire who flies nukes into space. She's not even touching on Thor and Bruce.] Have you ever used one off a range?

Is that all you've seen so far? The silly stuff?

[A serious question, rather than a flippant one or some kind of judgement. She presses her lips together, her expression turning just a little bit grim.]

We get some pretty nasty surprises here now and then. For awhile, it felt like that was all we got. If you've missed out on the violent stuff so far... I just hope that doesn't mean that Wonderland's been saving something extra brutal to drop on us at the worst possible moment.

[Oh -- weaponry. One of her favorite topics.]

A little of everything. It depends on the job in question. Best and most practiced with knives and firearms, but when I was little, I learned on a bow and arrow. Still a good shot when it comes to archery, too, but most jobs back home require a little more firepower.

[She likes her shotgun, personally.]

For these events? Mostly, yes, I think. There's been no violence in any of the ones I've witnessed. The most disturbing was the most recent, what with the memory manipulation. [Something she has personal issues with, but even that one had seemed almost benign in comparison to what they could have been made to believe or act on.]

Waiting for the other shoe to drop, as it were. I've honestly been worried about the same, since I've heard some pretty interesting tales while I was here. Then again, the events seem so random and strange, it's rather hard to prepare for.

[She seems comfortable talking about weaponry at least, and Natasha listens and takes notes and grins when she mentions archery.]

My partner's an archer. He finds his own way around the firepower issue. [Like exploding tips, among other things.] But I tend to prefer knives and firearms myself, so I'd have to agree. What kind of jobs?

I'd say you've been lucky, but I don't want to jinx us. To me, it feels like waiting for the other shoe to drop. It's been awhile since we've encountered anything really bad; makes me feel like the next time the events take a hard turn, it'll be a doozy.

[Maybe Wonderland had decided to be kind to them in the wake of two killing sprees by two separate murderers. Separate. She was going to try and focus on that word. She'd already heard someone try to blame Tom for the most recent incidents, but she knew it wasn't him. He was accounted for and potentially on the mend, and even if it had been--

It wasn't Harry's style. None of the murders bore his calling card.

She shakes her head briefly, clearing it.]

Sounds like he knows how to get creative. That's good. [She forces a smile, though it's a small one.] Hunting. We keep it on the down-low back home, but here, it's not much of a secret. Tracking down things like ghosts, demons, other things that go bump in the night that are leaving a trail of bodies -- there are a whole bunch of people who take it upon themselves to learn what it takes to put 'em down.

Luck's a fickle thing at the best of times. If it decides to jinx us, I doubt it'll be because of you.

[Natasha gives her a wry smile at that, but to be truthful, she's been bracing herself for it all the same. She's heard there can be some pretty nasty events here and one of them is bound to fall sooner or later.]

That's one word for it. [There's fond humor in her tone when she speaks of her partner, but she turns serious again when Jo mentions what it is that made her skills so useful back home.] I've heard a little about that I think. The hunters and the other supernatural creatures that come from a few of the worlds. Angels and demons and vampires and werewolves so far, I believe. I've been warned Wonderland has it's own little collection.

[And she's had one friend run afoul of the supernatural side already. Possibly two, since they still don't know who or what was responsible for Tony.]

There's a whole bunch here.

[She smiles wryly -- both the hunters and the hunted, though in some cases, there seems to be a truce in place, some easier than others. It's complicated. In a tight space like this one, the rules change some, though she'll admit there are some folks she's not interested in offering a second chance.]

Some more dangerous than others. I'd say that at least the angels are all okay, but-- not sure that's the case anymore. There's at least one I wouldn't trust, but Castiel is good people.
