Summary: It's your chance do your dance
The Story: After the culture festival wraps up on Wednesday afternoon, all students are invited to a dance in the gymnasium! There are snacks and drinks (non-alcoholic, of course!), as well as cheesy paper decorations made by the student council members.

[Even if he'd made next to no effort for the rest of the cultural festival, Sam actually didn't look too bad when he turned up for the dance. Sure, it's not a tuxedo or anything that fancy, but he's wearing a nice shirt and tie (which would look even better if he'd stop pulling on it like he was being strangled).

He doesn't seem too keen on dancing, or maybe he's just unsure about asking anyone, and can be found sneaking out the back for a quick drink of more than just punch.]

[ Kevin is wearing a suit and tie, though everything seems a touch too big for him. He doesn't have a date, though that's not for lack of ability to procure one, thanks, so save all the nerd jokes. He's on his way back from the bathroom when he runs straight into his brother, whose tie is in worse shape than Kevin's, but -- honestly? -- only slightly. ]

Sorry. -- Where are you going?

[voiceinthedark]

[Sam winces when he bumps into- Kevin. Of course it had to be his brother.]

Nowhere. Outside. I need some air.

[vates]

[ Well, if that doesn't sound suspicious. He looks a little more closely at his brother, trying to see if he can guess what kind of trouble he's getting into. ]

Yeah, that's not all. What are you really doing?

[ He sounds tired and kind of judgmental, but more times than not, Kevin will cover for his brother. He's loyal, in the end, at least. Even if he berates him for it before and after. ]

[voiceinthedark]

[Sam gives him a huffy look, almost a scowl.]

I just- I'm gonna have a drink, okay? Maybe a smoke.

[His expression softens a little.]

You're not gonna tell are you?

[vates]

[ Eye. Roll. Seriously? ] No. But don't be dumb enough to get caught.

Why are you even smoking? You know how bad that is for you.

[voiceinthedark]

[God, he can almost feel the disapproval.]

I'm not a genius but I'm not that dumb. And loads of people go out there. It's fine.

[He lets out a slow breath.]

I know. It's terrible. I'm an awful person. It just makes me feel better.

[vates]

[ Another eyeroll, though this time it's for his making fun of Kevin chastising him. He wouldn't go so far to say his brother's an awful person for smoking, just a stupid one. And he's generally careful not to call his brother stupid because he knows that's a sensitive issue between them.

The slow breath and the reason for the smoking has Kevin more worried than annoyed, though, and he frowns. ]

Is something bothering you?

[voiceinthedark]

[He folds his arms over his chest, looking anywhere but at Kevin. It feels like another failure, another way he can't live up to Kevin.]

No. Not really. Just... everything. Stupid speed dating and this dance getting to me, that's all. You're fine. Go have fun. I'm just being stupid.

[vates]

[ Obviously things aren't fine, and Kevin glances over his shoulder at the dance before his attention is back on his brother. The choice is pretty obvious to him. ]

Come on. Let's go have that drink. If you get us caught, though, I swear, Sam...

[voiceinthedark]

[He gives Kevin a look of surprise which melts into a brief smile before he grabs Kevin's hand and tugs him towards the door which leads out of the back of the hall.]

Oh come on, have a little faith in me.
