[OPEN MINGLE] Or perhaps in Slytherin
Who: Slytherin House! (And friends and visitors, of course!)
Where: Slytherin Common Room, Quidditch Pitch, various places around Hogwarts
When: Duration of the event
Rating: G (will edit as necessary)
Summary: Slytherin open log!
The Story:

The Slytherin common room was a long, low underground room with rough stone walls and ceiling, from which round, greenish lamps were hanging on chains. A fire was crackling under an elaborately carved mantelpiece ahead of them, and several Slytherins were silhouetted around it in carved chairs.
The common room has changed, somewhat, from its historical description, thanks to the decorative powers of one Mettaton. Though it still extends beneath the lake and thus retains a greenish, aquatic cast, it's much more brightly lit, its cold, damp atmosphere replaced with dazzling MTT-brand warmth. Even the giant squid, occasionally peering in as it does its rounds of the lake, seems just a shade more glamorous inside such a charming space.
Students - and a ghost or two - can be found nestled within its confines, plotting mischief around the fire, studiously doing their homework (as good students do), or perhaps trading Chocolate Frog trading cards. Though Slytherin is not especially well-known for its wide-open, trusting nature, Slytherins are known for not snitching on each other; if a guest or two were to creep in for a while, then odds are, nobody saw anything.

THE QUIDDITCH PITCH
You can definitely find Chara there at almost any time the pitch schedule permits it. They're in the habit of showing up a good 15 minutes early for practice, wrestling with a case of bludgers, trying to balance both their Beater bat and their broomstick under one arm. They might be a second-year, but they're also going to play harder than anyone else in this entire school!]
((ooc: DO WE WANT A TEAM MINGLE BECAUSE THIS CAN TOTALLY BE A TEAM MINGLE))
THIS SHOULD DEFINITELY BE A TEAM MINGLE
You want some help?
DRAPES SELF ON A PIANO AND SEDUCTIVELY BECKONS TEAM
[With practiced, skillful ease, they kick open the bludger case, undo the chains keeping one of the weighty Death Orbs down, and... immediately get conked on the noggin by it. They drop their broom and bat with all the Grace And Style of a Truly Talented Beater. It's glorious and dazzling.]

If you're fine, you should probably get started.
[Souji is the most sympathetic captain.]
JUMPS IN ON THE SHIT TRAIN
Good job, kid! Next you can work on swinging it towards other people!
[She's not sympathetic either, but waves a bit to Souji as she approaches, offering a fistbump.]
Whattup, team peeps?
DIVES ON IN HERE you saw nothgin
I'd say knock on wood, but you've already got that covered, huh?
no subject
Don't spend too much time messing with them. We've got work to do.
(hop on in guys we're doing a single thread w/no tag order!)
Oh my god, did the entire team apparate here JUST to see that?
[They scrabble to grab their bat, swatting away the bludger as it makes a second attempt.]
Any more wisecracks and I'm sending this thing toward every single one of you next!
Mom is here
[A voice comes shouting from the stands- it's Toriel, who's managed to attend almost every Slytherin quidditch practice since Frisk and Chara joined the team.]
LAUGHS
See, Chara, it's ok! Your mommy is here.
[She's leaning on her broom for support. God help her. She's not sorry.]
no subject
THEY'RE FINE, MOM! THEY HAVE A BOO-BOO, BUT THEY'RE FINE!
[Frisk, likewise, is not in any way sorry.]
no subject
[Wow, Chara has attained an entirely new level of redness, because they're like twelve and want to look Cool and Dangerous and Edgy, not bludger-faced and doted on by a loving mother.]
THANK YOU FOR ASKING.
[They add that, however, because even Lone Wolf McEdgerson is still a mama's kid deep down.]
But Frisk won't be if you're gonna call it a boo-boo, [They hiss under their breath, glaring daggers at their sibling.]

[Toriel sits back down in her seat, and resumes watching, just to make sure that nothing happens to any of them, playing such a dangerous game. She doesn't want to interfere with their practice any, after all.
Though she might have brought some snacks for when they're all done.]

Right! Shall we, perhaps, get to warming up? That bludger's probably going to be coming back awfully soon.
[It's sort of circling the lot of them like a buzzard, waiting for some kind of opportune chance to totally bean someone else.]
no subject
Ugh! Looks like I got here too late to join in all the mocking!
[He doesn't even know what happened, but he missed the chance to affectionately tease the hell out of his teammates!]
Guess that's what I get for definitely gettin' here on time and not being five minutes late.
[He wasn't five minutes late anyway. ...He was six minutes late.]
no subject
Yeah, you missed Chara beaning themselves in the face and their mom getting worried. Classic.
[She loves Chara. Really. But also, Chara's a second year, and that's Prime Mocking Material.]
Maybe action item today should be, like, getting that thing down before it kills somebody.
no subject
You're right. Chara, I want you to find the bludgers and try to hit Stan and Wendy with them.
[It'll be good practice for all three of them--Chara won't mind getting a little revenge for being laughed at, and the chasers need to improve their reflexes.]

But (and he admitted it with only bare begrudging) Chara proved him wrong. They showed up early, worked their ass off, and were as vicious as Rafe could ask for. So when he saunters out onto the field and sees the struggle, the snort he offers is accompanied with a murmured spell and a flick of his wand. ]
You enjoy making things difficult for yourself? [ comes the drawl as the case of Bludgers hovers on its own, taking a load off Chara's hands. ] Or just forget your wand in the common room?
no subject
Nobody in the wizarding world likes to use their own two arms, do they? If I'm going to be a Beater, then I have to build muscle.
[Preteens, of course, being extremely known for their muscularity. Look, Rafe's a good Beater, and he's got size, weight, and experience on his side. They have a lot to make up for if they expect to keep up with him.]
Keep swishing your wand around, and I bet I'll be stomping you at arm wrestling by the time finals arrive.

[ Those crazy muggles, bless their hearts. It's a fond statement, though, because how can't you admire the grit to get along without magic to help? Much like Chara themselves but Merlin, there's a difference between independence and just plain stubbornness. (Pots and kettles are on sale this week and they're going like hotcakes.) ]
But whatever. Excuse the hell out of me for depriving you the couple minutes' exercise. I'll make it up to you— [ The box lands lightly at Rafe's feet and he squats to open the latches, flipping open the case to reveal the bludgers in question. A wry smile tugs at his mouth as he offers an affectionate pat to the enchanted murder-balls. ] —I'll let you play target practice, I'll play target.
[ A devil's grin flashes and there has to be something about being a Beater that begs for the slightly unhinged; nobody in their right mind gets their kicks like this. On the other hand? Those people would likely be really boring. ]

[And speaking of using their sick pythons... Golly, they're positive that Chasers don't have even half the fun Beaters have! Chara's face lights up with an eager, gleeful smile. They drop down to their knee in front of the case, ready to undo the restraints keeping them from immediately enacting their whole "constant high-velocity bludgeoning" habit at the first sign of daylight.]
You know I'll gladly take you up on that! In the spirit of fair play and good team spirit, I'll even give you a three-second head start before I unleash these little terrors on the pitch.
no subject
[ Pfft— Slytherins relying on pythons. That earns a laugh, grin turning warmer at the sight of Chara's. A quarter of the fun would be generous and those Chasers don't even know what they're missing. Then again if they did, the whole thing would be a moot point. ]
Three seconds. [ He scoffs at the offer. ] What, you going soft on me?
[ But the taunt's tossed over his shoulder, since soft or not Rafe isn't going to let an opportunity pass him by. He's in the air before Chara can rescind the offer to sweep low along the grass before speeding higher with an eye behind him to watch for those Bludgers. ]

C'mon, figure out who's the Alpha Beater! Fight! Fight! Fight! Fight!
