[OPEN MINGLE] Or perhaps in Slytherin
Who: Slytherin House! (And friends and visitors, of course!)
Where: Slytherin Common Room, Quidditch Pitch, various places around Hogwarts
When: Duration of the event
Rating: G (will edit as necessary)
Summary: Slytherin open log!
The Story:

The Slytherin common room was a long, low underground room with rough stone walls and ceiling, from which round, greenish lamps were hanging on chains. A fire was crackling under an elaborately carved mantelpiece ahead of them, and several Slytherins were silhouetted around it in carved chairs.
The common room has changed, somewhat, from its historical description, thanks to the decorative powers of one Mettaton. Though it still extends beneath the lake and thus retains a greenish, aquatic cast, it's much more brightly lit, its cold, damp atmosphere replaced with dazzling MTT-brand warmth. Even the giant squid, occasionally peering in as it does its rounds of the lake, seems just a shade more glamorous inside such a charming space.
Students - and a ghost or two - can be found nestled within its confines, plotting mischief around the fire, studiously doing their homework (as good students do), or perhaps trading Chocolate Frog trading cards. Though Slytherin is not especially well-known for its wide-open, trusting nature, Slytherins are known for not snitching on each other; if a guest or two were to creep in for a while, then odds are, nobody saw anything.

THE QUIDDITCH PITCH
You can definitely find Chara there at almost any time the pitch schedule permits it. They're in the habit of showing up a good 15 minutes early for practice, wrestling with a case of bludgers, trying to balance both their Beater bat and their broomstick under one arm. They might be a second-year, but they're also going to play harder than anyone else in this entire school!]

But (and he admitted it with only bare begrudging) Chara proved him wrong. They showed up early, worked their ass off, and were as vicious as Rafe could ask for. So when he saunters out onto the field and sees the struggle, the snort he offers is accompanied with a murmured spell and a flick of his wand. ]
You enjoy making things difficult for yourself? [ comes the drawl as the case of Bludgers hovers on its own, taking a load off Chara's hands. ] Or just forget your wand in the common room?

Wendy | OTA
[Wendy's in the common room by the fire, feet kicked up on a nearby chair and looking almost folded together with a book by her face. If anyone looks closer, they'll see she not actually reading the book- it's a muggle gossip mag, and do not ask how she got it. Just because she's in Wizard Technology Lockup for 5 months at a time doesn't mean she's not gonna get her brothers to ferret her info from the outside world. She's not spending all summer with her muggle friends and NOT knowing Brangelina broke up.
Feel free to call her out, but if you're nice, she might be down for sharing.]
ii. AND NOW WE BREAK DA RULES
[She's sneaking out. Of COURSE she's sneaking out. Wendy goes out nearly every night past curfew, and tonight, it's your turn to go with her. So she's creeping through the common room, light as a feather, whispering to whoever's coming along to a new hideout of hers around the castle.]
Remember. Quiet as you can possibly be. Nobody wants detention for trying to be up past nine.

[Clementine keeps her voice very quiet, but she is only a first year. She's heard about detention but it's not the same as experiencing it. Dipper | 4th year | doesn't go here
He's loitering by the window, idly watching the giant squid swim by, and absolutely, definitely, clearly not waiting for anybody specific to show up. Especially not Wendy. He definitely doesn't know that she has a class ending in about five minutes and usually comes back to her dorm afterwards, cause that'd be crazy. Why would he know her schedule that well? Nope. He's just. Hanging out. No reason. Just chilling.
Yep.]

[ elena knows dipper is not here for her, despite her somewhat persistent tendency to make everything about her without meaning to. but this is sincere and good-natured ribbing, and not i-am-feel-uncomfortable-when-we-are-not-about-me. ]

Clementine | OTA
Magic's gonna help her to survive and to thrive, and Slytherins get that.
But not everyone gets it, and it's well known what she did. People like to stay away from her, which is why she finds herself in the Slytherin common room after running into some kids who were clearly scared of her (Can she blame them?). She's punching a pillow so hard the feathers pop out of it. Wizards and witches are supposed to use magic instead of their fists but-
She hasn't got the memo yet, and also, she's still learning magic. There's a pop and crackle of the fire unintentionally burning brighter from her anger, lightning crackles overhead. She punches a wall, which turns out to be a mistake but at least stops the magic.]
Ow.
no subject
They've learned how to form that outlet, with the help of the Dreemurrs. They and Chara both, even if it had been a slow process. So they see another kid, another Slytherin kid, struggling with the same, and Frisk watches, eyes dark and watchful.
They fish out a roll of gauze that they totally didn't pinch from the Hospital Wing, why do you ask, and offer it out without missing a beat.]

Pidge | 4th year
[Pidge is pretty studious. Unlike some of her Slytherin brethren, she spends more time studying than thinking up pranks or making trouble. She may be ambitious--she wouldn't be here if she wasn't--but she seems to believe that the best way to achieve her goals is to do her homework and not get in trouble. And she's good at that. If... not particularly great at making friends. To be fair, she never really seems to try. She sticks to herself, being about the bare minimum of politeness she can muster, and does her homework. If she's lonely, she doesn't seem to show it much.
Bother her, if you dare.]
ii
[But... wait. What's this? It's after curfew, why would studious, always toeing the line Pidge be sneaking out of the dorm? Stop her if you want, or follow her and see where she's going.
Some nights, it's the astronomy tower, where she sits with tech that looks suspiciously muggle in design, though of course, it's not. She's built it all, using magic and her own knowledge of muggle tech, and it's far more powerful than any muggle tech or simple spell on its own. She's scanning the skies, though for what, it's unclear.
Or she can be found going deeper into the dungeons, to a small, forgotten classroom that honestly, given the nature of the castle, may not have been there in the past. She's got all sorts of things in there. A cauldron, bubbling away and making strange smells. More muggle tech, all disassembled since it wouldn't work here anyway without her aid. Lots and lots of books. Jars of ingredients. Schematics. Everything you might need for your own secret mad magic science lair.
It's always the quiet ones, isn't it?]
ii.
Then they speak abruptly, conversationally, as if they haven't been discretely tailing Pidge for the past hour or so.]

KATERINA PETROVA | SEVENTH YEAR | OTA
[ katherine's always preferred lingering in the astronomy tower when the common room is rife with activity, but she sits on one of the arm chairs, legs tucked underneath herself comfortably. on the arm of her chair are some chocolate frog cards laid out. she's piling them up to create a count of all the same cards she has of the one wizard — and she's preparing to swap. ]
[ these cards aren't for her, but for her muggle boyfriend who finds himself quite taken with half of the lame crap katherine cares very little about. it's become no secret katerina petrova has someone waiting for her in the muggle world, and she's been selfish and selfless enough to cut ties with her own pureblood family because of him. ]
I don't want this one. [ she turns her nose up at a wizard with long, knotted hair. ] His robes don't match.
HALLWAYS, ASTRONOMY TOWER OR HOMEWORK HELP
[ taking a book to the astronomy tower, katherine navigates the long way to her chosen destination. this is her final year at hogwarts, and while she's ready to leave — she wants it, her freedom, the possibilities that await her once she graduates — she finds herself feeling a little nostalgic already. the corridors are wide with high ceilings, the ghosts annoying and sometimes unfriendly in their own ghost fits. ]
[ despite keeping to herself over the last few weeks as it finally settles on her this is her last year in hogwarts, katherine never turns down the chance to help a younger student out with their homework if they wish to stop her in the hallways or upon leaving the common room, nor will she say no to any company in the astronomy tower once she makes her way up there. ]
[ as she's walking, a black cat known for sitting on student's homework and biting their robes and generally stealing their chocolate frog cards lingers in the shadows, following her. vasilka is a slytherin student herself, and she's always watching over them. ]
( ota to all houses! feel free to catch her anywhere, her cat's her fluffy shadow. )

When she's not corrupting those around her she's lounging in the Common Room with anyone else who'd rather be doing anything else but study or, failing that? She'll set upon those who have cracked a book and pester them until they stop. Or lose their temper, whichever comes first.]

Natasha Romanoff | 6th Year | OTA
Natasha's often curled up in a very specific overstuffed armchair in the Common Room, somewhere near the fire, whether it's doing homework or reading a book or responding to a bit of correspondence. While she doesn't go out of her way to be all that sociable, if someone wanders over in her direction for a bit of conversation, she's usually open to it. Well-known to be skilled in most of her classes, she's always willing to answer homework questions or help the younger years out whenever they get stuck on something.
And maybe, if you're lucky, she might even set her work aside to come join in on a bit of mischief if the whim strikes, since her clever mind has a knack for strategy, especially when doing something questionable or forbidden. She's gained a bit of a reputation among her fellow housemates for being one of the best at sneaking in and out of places they're not supposed to be without ever getting caught...
HOGSMEADE
Natasha rarely turns down the opportunity to wander down to Hogsmeade on the weekends they're given permission (and maybe occasionally when they're not?). Today she's out wandering and shopping, picking up some things she thought she might need, indulging in some treats and perhaps seeing that a few of her friends have a good time as well, even if they're not as likely - or have as many of the means - to indulge for themselves. She pops up in many places, stopping to chat with friends and acquaintances alike and making some purchases of sweets and treats to be delivered to the Slytherin Common Room for the students too young to wander down here and get some for themselves. Anonymously, of course. She pretends she still has her cool and aloof reputation to maintain.
Hogsmeade
Most people couldn't understand how these two came to be friends, or how they continued to be friends- especially since Natasha was always threatening to hex him for something. But after six years it was so common to see them together people stopped questioning it, mostly.
"Do you think I should throw in an extra pack of ice mice or the peppermint toads?" Important decisions were being made today.

He's managed to get to Hogsmeade this time by the skin of his teeth after another fight, spends most of his time on his own, poking around the shops. Most of his pocket money goes on sweets. Can't help that sweet tooth.

Being a 7th year he technically has a lot of school work that he should be working on, but he will always find a moment for anyone who wishes to speak to him because he's just so kind like that. Not at all because he's trying to ignore some of that heavy workload.

This Is Crazy, I Wish I Was The Moon Tonight
Rafe Adler. 7th Year. | OTA
[ There's nothing out of the ordinary for students to bring their homework out to the common room, parchment sprawling out around their chair as they scribble away essays. Rafe is easily found among them, with translations for ancient runes or abacuses to parse out a challenging bit of arithmancy. The big difference here is the company he keeps. Ambra accompanies him on occasion, perched on his shoulders as it preens his hair affectionately. Being underground isn't exactly her favorite place to be and doubly so given her wingspan (it took a few years to build up the muscles to let her climb up on him) but... Eh.
Usually he'd ignore anybody who dared annoy him when he's working but these are his people. He can stand an interruption from fellow Slytherins, and it's always a hoot (get it) to see the younger ones' reactions to a giant bloody owl just hanging out. ]
b) library
[ Unfortunately, there's a definite no pets policy in the library (boo hiss) but a whole lot of really awesome resources. ]
If you're going to sit here, [ he says without looking up from his textbook, ] then you're going to be quiet. If not, we're going to have a problem. [ Slowly lifting his gaze, he levels his best Kubrick Stare™ (do not try this at home) at the offending party. ] And by we, I mean you.
c) quidditch pitch
[ Of an evening when Rafe can't be bothered with homework, he heads out for some solo practice. He isn't crazy enough to loose the bludgers on his own — he sticks to the quaffle on nights like this, tossing it up to crack it across the pitch before summoning it back, rinse and repeat. Anyone vaguely familiar with Muggle sport will note all that's lacking is the batting cage. What can he say, Muggles have some pretty damn good ideas when you get down to it. No whammy no whammy, swing and for the love of god announce yourself if you don't want a sudden faceful of quaffle. ]
d) the rooftops
[ More than one way to skin a cat and similar to getting around the castle. Sure there's secret passages and corridors that only open if you tickle the right brick, but there's also the higher roads. It had started as a younger adventure to prove he could do anything some mudblood could, quickly turned into an adrenaline-laced jog across tiles and spires and—
...Crap. This window is usually unlocked. ]
Hey. [ Rapping insistently on the glass pane, he knows you can see him. Come on. Don't be that guy. ] Open up.
e) wild card
[ ANY IDEA I CAN'T THINK OF THROW IT AT ME, BRO ]
I want the D
It's quiet up here. Usually.
John's startled out of his calm quiet by a rapping at the tower window, and he's shocked to see Adler standing there looking inpatient. Well, fuck. After the surprise wears off, John leans over and pushes the window out so the Slytherin can get through.]
How the hell'd you get out there?

OTA
Not an unusual sight for this Slytherin: one of the last in at night, one of the last up doing homework, one of the last down to breakfast. Occasional episodes that are turning into more of habits, of late. Whatever Victor does when he wanders off in between classes, he's not telling--unless you're one of the people in his circle who already have an inkling, which case you know it's Very Important. More important than dull fifth year assignments.
Those get done haphazardly in front of the fire under the watchful eye of the giant squid. (Literally under. Sometimes Victor wonders if that thing isn't spying on him through the windows.) Last-minute procrastinators have a friend in Victor if you need to cheat over someone's shoulder--no matter how rushed the work, he breezes through it with top marks.
Don't be afraid of the sullen-looking necromancer kid, he's probably more scared of you than you are of him.]
(OOC: Feel free to hit him up in the common room, or wild card me and find him somewhere else!)
