Summary: The Red Queen has thrown a carnival for everyone!
The Story:

From Friday, March 9, through Friday, March 16, the gardens and grounds of the Mansion will be a sprawling a carnival. The masked, unspeaking vendors will be selling trinkets and running free game booths. Carnival rides, exhibits, and foods represent all of the various cultures of those currently residing in the Mansion.

Of particular note, and perhaps incongruously, everything is decorated with red hearts.

[ She blinks. ] Oh, no! It can happen in so many ways! We could've been walking on the beach, or maybe sharing a candlelit dinner. Ooh, or-or looking up at the stars together!

Or. [ It's forward as hell, but she touches his cheek. That's just who she is! ] A carnival ride. Isn't it wonderful?

I... I see.

[He sweatdrops!! And glances nervously towards the hand touching his cheek. It's quite warm!]

W-well... Yes, I cannot deny that it was a wonderful experience. I just... I apologize! ...Even with all of my studies, I know nothing of this sort of thing!

Aww~~!

[ Monika giggles and pulls him into a tight hug. ] It's okay! I can teach you so much!

[ She leans back with a dreamy sigh. ] Where would you like to start? Flirting? Displays of affection?

[ And there she goes, leaning in uncomfortably close. ] Kissing?

[He continues to be caught off-guard by the hug and the leaning! He stares her down uncertainly, practically his entire face red by now. At a loss of words, he tries to mutter anything.]

A-ah... I... I...

[Then he winces and calls out!]

I do not believe that I am r-ready for such lessons at this time, thank you!

[ She pouts. How sad! And right when she was about to kiss him!!!

With a small "aww," she lets him go. ]

Did I overwhelm you? Should we go slower?

[Ishimaru looks down at the ground, feeling equal parts bashful and guilty.]

...Er... Y-yes. To... both of your questions.

[He takes a quick breath.]

I apologize for disappointing you, Monika-kun! B-but this... This is all too new to me!

[ She laughs. ] It's okay! I'm not disappointed!

[ Much. Mostly. ]

That's what makes it great! New love is so amazing! It's like a small flower bud in spring, taking in the sun until it spreads its petals to show its true beauty to the world!

[ Monika sighs happily. ] I envy you. It's such a great feeling.

[Such a passionate description! She even says 'love'. Ishimaru blinks uncertainly and raises a hand over his chest as he dwells on this.]

Y-you have described it very well. This feeling... this is 'love'? [That would explain that warm feeling in his chest. But... he's also felt that same way sometimes around Sayaka, or when thinking about her. What could it mean?]

[ Monika beams. ] Of course it is!

[ Aaand if it's actually not...it still is! ]

How does it feel? You can tell me!

[Ishimaru promptly looks even more flustered as he considers that.]

A-ah! I... I see! Thank you... for educating me on this matter, Monika-kun!

[He pauses as he gathers his voice and nervously goes on.]

W-well, it feels quite... quite warm. And pleasant, and exciting! But it also makes me feel very... nervous!

[ GASP. ] Then do you know what that means?

[ She takes his hands, smiling like a proud teacher who just helped her student overcome a difficult problem. ] Your love is pure!

[He gasps slightly as she takes his hands.]

It- it is?! Well, I am glad for that much. If such a feeling... was not pure, than it would definitely be inappropriate!

Aww, you shouldn't think like that. Even the most inappropriate forms of love can be special in their own way.

[ Not that she'd know. ]

So. [ His hands get a tiny, encouraging squeeze. ] What do you want to do about it?

Ah-! [He turns redder as his hands are squeezed.]

I... I do not know! I... feel quite confused...

[ Monika tries not to make a face. She wants him to figure this stuff out on his own, but...she also wants to make sure he does what she wants. ]

Is there, like, anything you might want to ask me...?

I... I suppose there is another thing I want to ask about this feeling that I feel! [He looks up towards her nervously.]

If... I have also felt this feeling before, around another person... What does that mean?

[ It takes a lot of effort not to want to hound him for who this mystery person is, though the question is already burning through her chest.

AUGH. ]

Well, um. If they really meant something to you, you probably would've said something to them by now! Buuut I'm sure you haven't, so I guess I'm the lucky one! Ahaha!

[ There she goes, leaning in close again. ] Right?

Ah... [He takes that in, but he hasn't quite so sure. He may not have told Sayaka the sorts of things that Monika is saying to him now, but he has told her that she is special to him...

But he can't dwell on it much before Monika is close to him again, and his nerves take over.]

If- if that is the way it works, then yes! Truly... I am the lucky one, to know such wonderful people!

Eheh...

[ Monika is wondering how much more obvious she has to be. He clearly loves her, so why won't he say it?! ]

So isn't there a special way you'd like to say that to me? Or show it?

A... a special way? [His mouth feels dry. It's like he's being quizzed on something he didn't prepare for - a nightmare.] Um... Well...

{Ishimaru then tries to declare loudly, with a gusto.]

Monika-kun, I place a very high value on your existence! I- I have enjoyed spending this time with you! Thank you very much!

[ She's quiet for a long time. This is... That was...

Well, it was something? ]

Oh.

[ There's another long pause. She's got so much work to do, doesn't she? ]

Y-You're welcome.

[Her work is really cut out for her. Ishimaru then punctuates his gesture with a formal bow.]

I also appreciate what you have taught me! It... it has given me a lot to think about!

[ She's still standing there in bemused shock. Her muscles have forgotten how to work, just a tad. ]

Uhh, I've got a lot to think about, too. It'll be...fun!

[He's not sure if he wants to leave her right now himself. But he's also clueless about what to do next... this feels like something that requires further study!]

I agree that it should be fun! With that said, would now be an appropriate time for us to part ways for the time being?

[ She almost wants to protest, but then again, she figures he'd probably just spend their time together bowing at her over and over... ]

Um, yep! Probably for the best!

[ For lack of anything better to do, she gives an awkward wave. ] I'll see you around, Kiyo.
