Summary: The Red Queen has thrown a carnival for everyone!
The Story:


From Friday, March 9, through Friday, March 16, the gardens and grounds of the Mansion will be a sprawling a carnival. The masked, unspeaking vendors will be selling trinkets and running free game booths. Carnival rides, exhibits, and foods represent all of the various cultures of those currently residing in the Mansion.


Of particular note, and perhaps incongruously, everything is decorated with red hearts.

[ It's a lot easier to take off the rings without the rolling, even though it still takes a bit of effort. Ange's trying to be gentle at least so she won't hurt Mikan's feet as she pulls the one there off. ]

It's usually a lot easier to get out of situations like these if you don't freak out. [ YUP, JUST.. GOING TO IGNORE THE KID SITUATION. Going to pretend she has amnesia or something. It's easier than the alternative. ]

I-I'm sorry... This kind of stuff happens to me all the time... I'm really clumsy.

[No kidding. But if Ange's not going to bring up kiddy time, neither will Mikan.]

[entreats]

[ This takes a whole different level of clumsy, Ange can't help but think.. But she doesn't voice it out loud. She ought to give Mikan at least that much dignity in a situation like this.

At least she slips the other one off fairly easy too, rendering the other girl able to move again. ]

There. .. Also, there's no need to apologize to me. Helping you out for a moment here doesn't really inconvenience me. [ The Ange-tsun way of saying "I don't mind helping you"... ]

[With a relief, she begins trying to stand up, albeit slowly.]

Even so... th-thank you very much! I really appreciate it!

[entreats]

[ Ange might even be reaching out to gently dust some dirt from the ground off Mikan. Casually. Just don't mention it or she'll get the tsun-friendship vibes again. ]

Were you trying out the games around here?

[naughty_nurse]

Y-Yes... I'm not very good at them, but, um, I figured I should at least try...?

[entreats]

It doesn't matter if you're good at them or not. They're usually rigged anyway. [ When it comes to normal carnivals, anyway... ]

.. This is too sappy for someone like me to say, but.. I guess some people would say "it's the fun that matters." Or something like that.

[naughty_nurse]

[Aw.]

Then... I-I'll try to have fun!

[For Ange!!!]

And, if, somehow, I won, um... y-you can have the prize!

[entreats]

[ That last part actually manages to catch her off guard. Enough that her pokerface slips enough that she blinks twice in surprise. ]

You're giving it to me? Why?

[naughty_nurse]

Because you helped me out... And you're always so nice to me.

[Seems fair enough.]

[entreats]

[ Oh no, Mikan.. Don't use that "nice" word.. Ange instantly looks a little more awkward, her poker face disappearing just a bit. ]

I haven't done anything special. [ NOT LIKE SHE'S TRYING TO BE A NICE PERSON OR ANYTHING.. ]

[naughty_nurse]

[She looks at the game, trying to see how it's played and how to win.]

... One thing I've learned here is... that everyone has a choice. To do good things. To do bad things. Wonderland rarely has consequences... so... in the end... if you do something nice, if you choose to do that, without wanting something in return or expecting it... I think that counts for a lot.

.. well, if there's anything I've learned here so far, it's that there's a surprising amount of people who actually go for the "doing nice stuff" option.

[ So she isn't that special, she means to say, although it takes quite a bit for her to say something that relatively optimistic to begin with. ]

Surely someone like you must attract a lot of those people, Tsumiki-san. [ Since, you know. She's so cute and helpless. People who loves to help others out must just eat that right up. ]

[naughty_nurse]

Huh? I must?

[That'd be news to her, considering back home her life was full of abuse and bullying. But here in Wonderland... hm. There's something to think about.]

... Maybe the location has something to do with it too...

[entreats]

[ Poor Mikan.. She deserves so much better back home!! ]

Since we're all weirdos together, you mean? [ Look, she's including herself in this. Ange is very well aware she's a weirdo. And that most people drawn into this place are just the same. ]

[naughty_nurse]

[And that gets a weak, small but still very genuine smile out of her.]

Y-Yeah... that might be it. We're all strange people, together... and that's not so bad.

[With that, she holds up a ring... determined to win... for Ange!

WHUFF.

turns out Mikan's, um, not that strong and the ring barely flies a few inches.]

[entreats]

[ This was probably expected, huh.

It's why Ange doesn't look too surprised to see the ring just quickly fall back down to the ground. Even if she didn't consider this scenario just yet, it's very much like Mikan to end up being clumsy even during this sort of game..

Thankfully she's not the type to laugh at someone over that, but she's not all that great at being encouraging. So all that follows is a semi-awkward-- ]

... Ah.. Good attempt.

Uuu... I'm sorry.

[She's not going to cry over it, but she does feel pretty bad, after all that build-up.]
