Summary: The Red Queen has thrown a carnival for everyone!
The Story:


From Friday, March 9, through Friday, March 16, the gardens and grounds of the Mansion will be a sprawling a carnival. The masked, unspeaking vendors will be selling trinkets and running free game booths. Carnival rides, exhibits, and foods represent all of the various cultures of those currently residing in the Mansion.


Of particular note, and perhaps incongruously, everything is decorated with red hearts.

Oh yeah, I've survived all kinds of stuff. There was this giant robot--well, well, there have been a few giant robots and--

[Oh look they can get on to the roller coaster now! Yay! But Dipper looks a little unhappy still.]

Aww, we didn't get the front. Maybe we can wait a round for it.

[singloversing]

[Wirt places a hand on Dipper's shoulder and squeezes. Tightly.]

Dipper, if you wait for the front seat I swear will get out of this line right now. Don't push your luck.

[He has his limit and his limit is apparently having to be in the front seat watching his imminent demise. At least in another seat he can stare at the back of someone's head instead of the ground.]

[Dipper just grins unrepentantly. It's possible he knew exactly what he was doing and was being an asshole as usual.]

Okay, middle it is. Come on! [And he's sliding into the roller coaster seat, dragging Wirt alongside him.]

[singloversing]

Okay, okay!

[Dipper tugs Wirt into the seat and they buckle up. The wait for the ride to move is agonizing, and the unfortunate question crosses Wirt's mind of "who runs these rides?". He cranes his neck a little to try and see better and pales when he sees another vendor operating the ride. Maybe he shouldn't be surprised - they're running the games too, after all. But with the games they aren't taking his life into their hands.]

A-Are you sure this is a good id--?

[TOO LATE. The ride abruptly starts moving forward.]

[For the best, Dipper would just say something super encouraging. He leans forward, grinning, as the ride starts moving up.]

There's usually a camera somewhere along the track. Try and make a face!

[singloversing]

[Despite this reaction, this is not Wirt's first time on a roller coaster. He's been on field trips before, but it's definitely been a while.]

Yeah, usually on the way down, right? To like, catch everyone screaming on the first drop?

[This is good. Not the picture part - that will go badly no matter what. But talking and clutching the bar with both hands and very pointedly not looking anywhere but straight ahead? Those parts are all good and helpful.]

Yep. It's usually pretty easy to find if you're looking for it.

[You know, and not screaming for dear life and ignoring anything but that.

Oh look they're getting closer and closer to the top......]

[singloversing]

[Wirt is definitely not looking. He's busy trying not to implode on this ride up...and up...

Then, the front seat dips down over the hill and Wirt tightens his hands on the bar and DOWN THEY GO!!!]

[Dipper lets out a whoop of sheer delight as they go hurtling down and around the track. He sees the camera when it comes and manages to grin and throw a peace sign as they pass.

Helps that this is nothing next to some of the things he's done in Gravity Falls without meaning to and definitely without safety gear. Once you've ridden the side of a space ship held only by a magnet gun and duct tape... roller coasters just don't seem like such a big deal.]

[singloversing]

[Wirt misses the camera entirely and shouts the whole way down the first hill. From there it gets easier and admittedly gets more fun, so when they get off the ride he looks rattled - but in a good way.

Or at least, he does until they get to the ride pictures.]

Oh my god. This is the actual worst picture of me I've ever seen in my life.

[krmvgivv]

[Dipper comes up behind him and snickers.]

Oh man, it is. That face you're making... it... [He tries to mimic it, then drops it and laughs again.] It's great. I want a copy.

[singloversing]

What? No! N-No one is getting a copy of this, ever!

[With that, in a rare moment of determination, Wirt's the one grabbing Dipper's wrist and pulling him back over to the roller coaster.]

Come on. I need a do-over.

[Dipper grins because honestly this is even better than immortalizing Wirt's stupid face.]

I mean, if you insist.
