Log [Ongoing]
Who: Misa Amane [
misa_idol], Dinobot [
upwind_of_you] and Hiro Nakamura [
timebending]
Where: On the outskirts of the forest
When: During the time bending event
Rating: PG13 (just to be on the safe side)
Summary: Misa is confused about how some of her friends seem so different because of the event and goes out for a walk to take her mind off of it. She wanders too far and ends up running into someone she'd have been better off not meeting...
the Story:
It was chilly outside; Misa was glad she'd worn something a bit warmer than her usual clothes. It was snowing after all. She'd been keeping to her room the past few days, torn between joining in the fun everyone was having in the snow and just staying on her own to worry about what might be happening back home. Staying on her own had won till now...well, not really on her own, since Rem was usually always there. But now Rem was off somewhere. Misa had nagged her to try and make some friends till it seemed the shinigami had actually given in and gone looking for someone who might be able to see her.
Her breath misted in the air and Misa shivered. Glancing over her shoulder and looking back at the trail of her footprints which marked the snow, she realized she'd walked farther away from the mansion than she'd meant to. She'd been so wrapped up in her thoughts she'd almost reached the forest. Maybe it was time to head back.
But just then she heard rather loud noises coming from the direction of the trees. She wondered what was making such a racket. Someone else from the mansion must be out there as well.
"Hello?" she called out.
Curiosity overcoming her, she headed towards the forest.

But just then she heard rather loud noises coming from the direction of the trees. She wondered what was making such a racket. Someone else from the mansion must be out there as well.
"Hello?" she called out.
Curiosity overcoming her, she headed towards the forest.

Behind the rabbit there was a larger rustling, and heavier footfalls in the snow that abruptly stopped as something flinched at the very edge of visibility, and did not show itself. Indeed, a moment later, there was the crunch of a slow, hesitant, almost fearful step back.
no subject
At the other, louder sounds her attention snapped away from the rabbit as she looked to see what was causing them.
Cheerfully, she asked, "Is someone there? Misa can hear you!"
no subject
"I--yesss, someone is," the trees said at last, in a rough hissing voice. It's near identical to one that has been voice-posting on the mansion network for some time, actually, save for two things: a faint metallic edge, like its own barely audible echo...and the tone. It is quiet, reluctant. It is very nearly ashamed.
"Someone is here, indeed, but...I am uncertain that anyone else should be. As you have seen, I--frighten things, even without intent to do so."
no subject
She wasn't sure that entering the forest was a good idea, the dark, towering trees looked forbidding, but Misa liked to think she was a brave girl and she'd had to face much scarier things than this. And the person speaking sounded a little bit upset too.
no subject
As she approached the sound, there was visible movement. Something white and silver flickered behind the cover of the winter undergrowth, dead branches and evergreens alike, and cringed behind the trunk of a particularly large tree. It did not move again.
"I admit have become less accustomed to either than I ever was. My form has changed, you see, and now the others will not listen to me any longer. My allies will not listen to me. My only friend will not listen to me. They say such terrible things now...I am uncertain what I should do."
There was a pause, and a quiet, pained hiss. "I do not think you should come any closer. You say your friends are frightening, and I believe you. But if I should frighten you while they do not, that would make me terrible indeed. I am uncertain if I could bear it."
There's no reason to be afraid of the forest, Misa.

But she felt sorry for him when she heard what a hard time he was having. She wanted to see if she could do anything to help. At his last sentence, she stopped for a second. Whatever he looked like, whatever he was, she couldn't let him down by finding him scary.
Determined, she moved forward till she was close enough to see him.
no subject
"So. You see."
no subject
Tossing one of her blonde pigtails and touching a fingertip to the corner of her face while giving him a smile, Misa said, half giggling, "Misa doesn't think you're that scary at all! So there's nothing for you to worry about!"
Looking around her at the forest, deserted except for the two of them, she wondered aloud, "But it must be so cold here for you! Misa is freezing! We can go back to the mansion if you like, it's much nicer there."
no subject
He looked away and made a quiet sound of relief at her assurance that he had nothing to worry about; deep in his internal circuitry, he was roaring with mirth at the words.
"It is an unfortunate truth that I have never enjoyed the cold, but I am unwelcome in those halls. I do treasure the offer, at least--it was not wasted. I thank you."
Misa's not the only one Dinobot has files on. And on this early day of the current round of their little game, the other player should be on high alert. Given the parameters, he can guess:
Three.
Two.

"Dinobot," he says coldly. "Stand away from Misa."
He remembers her clearly. It's hard to forget the faces in the mansion, especially after particulars. Not that Misa had been one of the fallen.
Without another word, he moves to attack the raptor-bot.
no subject
"Hiro-san! What are you doing!?" she was jolted into shrieking as she saw him making an aggressive move towards Dinobot. She had always thought Hiro was so nice, why was he attacking her friend? It wasn't like Misa had been in any danger!
no subject
CLANK.
Blade against blade, for the sword was met with the three-pronged knife-edge of the Cybertronian's long lashing tail. A careful swipe between the vertebrae was one thing, but the metal segments were made of far sterner stuff. The attack was halted.
"He? Isss ruining things," and the raptor lunged to his feet. His neck could turn much faster than the rest of him, and the jaws came at Hiro's face even as the tail twisted sharply--beginning the combat subroutine of ripping a weapon directly out of enemy hands.
no subject
Hiro stops time, just for a moment, just enough that he can reach and grab his sword back. He moves away from Dinobot to gain enough space to concentrate on speeding himself up.
Time doesn't stay frozen. He sets it back the way it should be.
"Misa, he's dangerous," Hiro tells her firmly. "Please; you know me. You remember me. I would not lie to you. You must stay away from Dinobot!"
no subject
She nodded once at Hiro's words, and wanted nothing more than to run back towards the mansion as fast as she could - she had had enough of being in life threatening situations - but she couldn't just leave Hiro to face Dinobot alone.
Misa would not abandon a friend if she could help it.
Of course, that doesn't mean she intended to stick around and face down Dinobot.
"Hiro-san! We need to leave!" She was fully prepared to latch onto one of his arms and drag him back to the mansion with her if he insisted on doing something as foolish as staying to fight.
no subject
In the blink of an eye, the large raptor became something larger...and a good deal sharper. "Yes, you really do!"
The giant's claws were like swords of his own, and the whole set came at Hiro like a whirlwind.
no subject
Seeing Dinobot transform, Hiro curses softly under his breath. Fortunately, he can speed himself up to keep up with the claws, blocking with his own blade before he begins to return the strikes with stabs and slashes of his own.
"You will not harm another here, Dinobot!"
He must protect Misa.
