Who: Orihara Izaya and Aikawa Yuu
Where The office where Izaya does all his ridiculous therapy work

Summary: "Exposure Therapy is the only way!"
the Story:

Filling out paper? No. Being professional? Nope. Izaya's spinning around in his very fancy leather chair and laughing. He was supposed to have a patient or something like that in this time slot (The work schedule having been thrown in a fit of uncaring sometime earlier in the day) but they're oh...2 minutes late. He's damn well entitled to what he wants in that time.

It's a very tedious job.

Of course not. "You tell me, you're the one with the irrational thought process."

"I haven't done anything irrational since I walked in here!"

"Or, at least not yet anyway," Izaya trails that comment off and once again going through his desk.

"Now, would you like to start talking or shall I choose where we begin?"

Shifting uncomfortably in his seat, Yuu watches him rummage. "...I'm not sure what you want me to talk about."

"O~kay~ I'll start then."

Thusly Izaya sets a plush rabbit doll down onto the desk. The thing is damn cute. It's beige, with a pink bow around it's neck and little button eyes.

Yuu stares at the toy, going very pale. He hasn't seen a rabbit since he talked to Rei in the warehouse back in his own world--he hadn't even thought about them much. And he's honestly really surprised at how frightening the thing is to him.

"That... Why do you have that?"

"There are five more in the room."

"Why?"

"Right there. Irrational thinking towards this doll. Is there anything you would like to say about it?"

He'll nudge it closer towards Yuu. Just in case he needs to get a better look.

Yuu knocks the toy onto the floor with a swipe of one hand. The other is gripping the edge of his chair tightly.

"Isn't it in my file or something?"

"It might be. But I don't know you, nor can I read your mind. And that makes it harder to help you."

He doesn't appear to be deterred by the action - only getting up to retrieve the fallen toy, placing it back on the desk, and sitting back down.

Having that thing staring at him is nerve-wracking.

"I told you about Rabbit Doubt before."

"I know you might have experienced this anxiety before, but that was with your other therapist. But this is a good start."

Yuu glances at Izaya, then looks at the rabbit again before slowly picking it up and turning it to face the other way.

"...I just don't like rabbits."

"I can see that." He retrieves the small plush and looks it over bemusedly, kindly. "But what I'm trying to do is to help you get over this anxiety of them. To make you indifferent to them."

And then he throws the rabbit at Yuu. Well, more like he gently tosses the thing, but WHOA LOOK OUT. Rabbit headed RIGHT TOWARD YOUR FACE AT AN AMAZING A FOOT PER SECOND.

Yuu bats the plushie away, maybe a little too quickly. He doesn't look scared so much as startled, and really anyone who just had something thrown at them unexpectedly might be.

"D-don't do that!"

Nope. That's definitely undeniable proof that Yuu has a problem and it must be mended immediately.

"You didn't like that one? Then...maybe this one?" And Izaya produces a second rabbit plush from his ~~hat~~ desk and again nudges the thing towards Yuu.

"Did you go out and get these just because I was coming to see you?"

Because you know, if he just happened to have five or six stuffed rabbits in his office, that would actually be terrifying.

"In a sense. I'm honestly surprised you have such a problem with these specifically," he shrugs. "These are the rabbits that accompanied you when you were first checked in."

"....What?"

This is the first he's hearing of this, and he's honestly confused as he stares at Izaya.

"I've never seen these before."

"Dissociative Fugue. It's not uncommon, especially in your case. But really, where else would I get these things?"

"Why would I have had them? Where did they come from?"

"No, I want you to think back on that and tell me why you had them."

Obviously Yuu, you should know.

"I don't know. I've never seen them before."

"They're not memorable to you?" He has to stand again, this time to retrieve yet another rabbit from a shelf. Yes it's been there the entire time.

"Perhaps this one then."

The thing is missing a foot.
