Karaoke Sample Song List

Presented by 2-3, this chic and semi-intimate karaoke lounge is heralded as the perfect get-away for those students and visitors looking to burn a little energy dancing and singing. Despite how it might first appear, the room boasts a deceptively large space, plenty of seating, and basic refreshments.

Nearest the stage is a sign-up list for those looking to sing. The music database is massive, so pretty much any song is offered (however, there are signs warning against selections that may not be appropriate for all audiences, even if no one will be closely monitoring).

Billy (Open)

Billy headed into the karaoke lounge when he had some time to kill between the Rest Area and getting too many fortunes read. He loved karaoke, well he loved watching other people stand up there and make fools of themselves in front of the crowd. As much as he loved music he sounded like a dying cat when he sang and there was no way he would be caught dead up there. Especially not in front of his classmates.

Oh Billy, you poor, poor boy. Why do you continue to keep the little trickster as part of your inner circle? Is it masochism? Because, if Billy would notice, his name was scrawled on the list in that deceptively fluid handwriting of Loki's. Billy Kaplan just so happened to be next on the list. Imagine that.

Loki, grinning like the Cheshire Cat, nudged Billy in the side with his elbow. "Look at that. You're next up. I didn't know you liked Karaoke." As if he hadn't signed Billy up himself. "Brave of you. I never would have guessed you had a confident singing voice."

Billy looked over at Loki with growing horror. "You didn't, please tell me you did not sign me up to sing."

Loki actually looked sympathetic and maybe a little hurt for a moment, though it was probably completely feigned. "Do you really think I would do something like that to you?"

And then his name is called.

"Oh, come now, you can't be that bad. ...would it help if I sing too?"

"Yes, actually I think this is exactly like something you would do," Billy said with a groan flopping back against the booth as his name is called again.

"Yes, if I have to get up there and sing you are getting up there with me." He grabbed Loki's arm and dragged him up on stage.

He'd been about to reply something to the effect of 'well, too bad. I'm not going', but the other teen had already grabbed his arm and was dragging him along. "I'm not on the list! You can't--" But he was already forcibly dragged to the stage despite his struggles. Billy was probably the only person in the universe that could get away with turning the trickster's trick back on him without nasty repercussions.

"Dragging me into my own prank is so against the rules, Kaplan."

"How long have we been friends?"Billy asked handing him a microphone. "You think I haven't learned to break the rules?"

"Apparently, far too long if I've rubbed off on you to this extent." And yet, he actually didn't sound annoyed by it at all. He took the microphone and just squinted at Billy. "Did you have a song in mind for us, my cheating friend?" He looked oh-so unimpressed, but in reality, he was pretty impressed.

Pulling on over on. Loki wasn't easy and Billy was letting his amusement at that distract him from the horror of actually trying to sing in front of people. "Well since I had no idea someone was going to sign me up for this! I have no idea. Can't they just randomly chose?"

It had started out as a harmless prank. Embarrass your friend on stage then they could both laugh about it, but now he was not only part of it, but he might actually have fun participating.

"Yes, and someone else evened the playing field, so I think we're square. Random then? Risky~! Sounds like fun."

Billy smirked smugly at his friend. This might actually be fun. "Of course you think risky is fun."

Billy nodded to the student running the machine that they were ready and he tried not to groan when the familiar tune of an old Spice Girls song came on. Of course it had to be a song Billy didn't want to admit he knew all the words to.

"Safe is boring." He admitted and looked to the screen when the music started playing. His first reaction was a slightly startled expression that melted quickly into resigned irritation as he rubbed his free hand down his face. "I think I'm cursed." He muttered away from the microphone to Billy before flipping it in his hand and bringing it up, ready for this. But, as a quick afterthought, he covered the microphone with his other hand, looking back to Billy.

"No skipping out of this one. If you try to lip sync, I will fill your bed with frogs every night for the rest of the school year." Yes, he is the most threatening teenager ever. Then, on cue,

"Yo! I'll tell you what I want, what I really, really want!" The words scrolled across the Teleprompter screen, highlighting as they should be sung to the beat. His singing voice wasn't too bad, but it sounded more fitting of a prepubescent teen in a Disney movie than a pop song. Billy might also notice it actually sounded a little tight. He put on a good act, but he was actually nervous singing in front of people. So Billy wasn't alone in his discomfort.

It took everything in Billy not to burst out laughing as soon as Loki opened his mouth. Of all the scenarios that had ever run through his head about his friend this was definitely not one of them. But fair was fair, if Loki was going to make a fool out of himself then Billy had to as well, even if this was all Loki's own fault.

"So tell me what you want, what you really, really want!" He managed to sing back trying not to sing too badly.

Teddy stopped into the karaoke club after he finished being Mystic Marvin just to see what other classes were doing. To his surprise, there was Billy up on stage. Was he singing? Oh, Teddy had to stick around for this. He stood in the back of the room and watched, unable to do much but grin stupidly. He couldn't pinpoint what it was exactly that drew him to Billy Kaplan but even the fact that he could barely carry a tune was endearing.

After it was over, Teddy made his way over to where Billy was sitting. He was nervous but he did his best not to let it show.

"Hi," he said with a smile. "I didn't know that you were into singing."

Billy looked up and immediately blushed. Now he really was going to kill Loki. Teddy had seen him make a complete fool out of himself.

"I- uh, I'm not into singing. At all."

"Really? It looked like you were having fun up there," Teddy pointed out but he didn't push the topic. He could see how red Billy already was and while it was cute, the last thing Teddy wanted to do was embarrass him.

"I'm glad I came by when I did. I wouldn't have wanted to miss this."

"Well, It wasn't so bad, mostly because Loki didn't think I'd drag him up there with me. I really can't sing though," Billy shrugged.

"Um, are you gonna sing?" He asked curiously wondering if Teddy was also good at that, and if there was another reason to crush on this boy.

"Me sing?" Teddy repeated. He glanced up at the stage skeptically. It wasn't that he couldn't sing. He did but in the shower when no one else was listening... at least, he hoped no one was listening.

"I guess... I mean, I could if my name was on the list... do you want me to sing?"

"You don't have to," Billy said noticing that he got uncomfortable. "I was just curious."

"No, no, I'll sing," Teddy said with a grin. "Besides, it's only fair that I got to hear your song. You should get to hear mine."

He walked over to the table and signed his name in blocky letters. He was nervous, a large ball forming in his belly but he couldn't back down now.

"What should I sing? Any ideas?"

Billy grinned up at him. "Sing something you like? And knowing the words help." He wasn't going to lie, the thought of seeing Teddy sing was making him grin uncontrollably.

"I guess that would be better than singing something I've never heard of before," Teddy said. "Ok, I think I have an idea..."

Teddy climbed up onto the stage and took a deep breath, shuffling through the codes until he found the song he was looking for. He wasn't the best singer but he could carry a tune and when the music started up he focused on the words and did his best to do Justin Timberlake justice.

Billy grinned when he heard the music come on, he liked this song and Teddy really wasn't a bad singer. He noticed Teddy watching him as he sang, and he blushed. He couldn't be singing this to him, right?

Teddy really didn't pay too much attention to Billy except to glance "casually" his way when there was a break in the music. Justin was a challenging singer to mimic and he tried his best, although he couldn't hide the fact that his voice sometimes cracked on the higher sections. Still, Billy looked to be enjoying it and he received a modest applause when the song ended.

He hopped down the stage and grinned at Billy, his cheeks a bit flushed with embarrassment. "That was fun," he said with a nervous laugh. "I hope it wasn't too terrible."

"You were good," Billy told him, and he was Teddy the truth, Teddy was a much better singer than he was. "Good song choice too."
