Summary: Let's go to this creepy tavern and ask for some directions! A log for staying nice and dry inside.
The Story:




For the duration of the event, the mansion has become a dingy tavern. It has two floors, the bottom being the main tavern and the upper floor has six bedrooms with one bed and one magic closet in each room for everyone to fight over, unless they don't mind sleeping on the floor or in the tavern somewhere. With the amount of people in Wonderland, everyone is cramped together and it will be very crowded. The closets will work, however they will only provide clothing and items from time periods long gone (though they do not seem to be bound to any particular time period). There are no employees to be found in the Tavern, but there's a working kitchen with a wood fire stove and enough food and drink for everyone to last the entire event comfortably. There's even a stage with musical instruments to entertain yourselves with! There's no electricity, but plenty of candles and lanterns around.

For the entire length of the event, it will be dark outside. In addition to the never-ending night, it will pour for four days straight, and it will all seem rather ominous once it becomes apparent the sun isn't coming out. Pretty much all signs will suggest that everyone should stay in the tavern and eat, drink, and be merry with their stupid new names. But it really is tight quarters, and some might be curious to see what else is out there. Maybe there's another place to stay out there, or something. Maybe the Beast Alice spoke of is out there.

The Agent's shoulders deflate. She had to admit, she'd been hoping the Subject might be willing to help her, but she had been too enthusiastic. Not everyone is as excited by spy work as she was as a child.

She forces herself to merely give a solemn nod. "No, that's fine. I got carried away." Because who wouldn't want to invade the privacy of everyone they know?

Except... that wasn't right. It would be taking pictures in public areas. The Agent would never condone sneaking into someone's bedroom or something like that. But everyone has their limits, and it looks like she's found the Subject's limits.

"But thank you anyway."

It had at least given her the idea. Take pictures of residents to keep better records of them than grainy video footage. And maybe see who wasn't included during some of the events to see if there was a pattern.

After all, it wasn't impossible that one of the residents was helping the people keeping them in Wonderland, right? Or maybe they were one of the people keeping them here. Hmmm...

The Subject is still pretty undecided. It would feel too much like sneaking around. But there's maybe a good compromise, and she's willing to suggest it, if only because the Agent seems cool and the Subject doesn't want to disappoint her. "Maybe I could ask people? After the event I can start taking some portraits. I'll just tell them we're keeping track of everyone in Wonderland." It sounds a little silly to her as she says it out loud. But it's definitely a middle ground she's willing to meet the Agent on, and she does owe the older woman for having helped her out when she first arrived in Wonderland. And since there's no secrets involved (after all, this is just to keep track of people, right?) then it's a win-win.

She wonders if using analog film would be good enough for something like that. Probably the Agent wound want something digital. Sigh. Time to catch up with the times, Max. She could set up a digital camera for the portraits, and still use her old Polaroid for her personal pictures. Seems fair.
