Summary: The Summerween Trickster has made his decree - Trick or treat...or die! This is a mingle log for Trick-or-Treating!
The Story:



On the morning of the 24th, everyone will find that the mansion was inexplicably decorated for Halloween...sort of. The idea behind the decorations is mostly the same, except that every jack-o-lantern is made out of a watermelon instead of a pumpkin. No, this is SUMMERWEEN.

For the first day it will be harmless enough, just a change in décor and a little spooky summer fun. However, by the second day there will be sightings of the Summerween Trickster, a creepy fellow made entirely out of unpopular loser candy, and he is not happy. In the entrance hall, there will be a giant jack-o-melon container with a counter and a count-down clock ticking away to the end of the event.

Your job, Wonderland, is to trick-or-treat for your lives. You have until the end of the event to deliver one million pieces of candy to the jack-o-melon before the end of the event, to appease the Summerween Trickster.

What was that? You'll just sit this out and wait for the event to end? I wouldn't do that if I were you. You see, the Summerween Trickster could be lurking around any corner. If he catches someone not fully embracing the spirit of Summerween (refusing to trick or treat, not wearing a costume, etc), they will not survive the experience. The Trickster will kill them and swallow them whole, making them part of his horrible loser candy body.

There's a sigh at Shepard's words. Miranda had heard about it, and the idea had seemed so stupid. Dress up and ask for candy? She wasn't a child, and even if the alternative was death she had an idea that it wasn't the only way around it. She'd live, and she'd find a way to do it

Even so she can't ignore Shepard, and opens the door to her )

( And judging by Shepard's hands she obviously had a different plan to Miranda )

[She's grinning a little wider than she probably should. It's almost mischievous.]

You got plans yet? Because I do.

[She's got the shirts bagged for maximum surprise.]

I've heard you might get extra points for matching, and I figure the mansion probably knows if you're making a joke about the people you're with, right? So I have a great idea.

[YOU READY TO GO ALONG ON THE SHEPARD IDEAS TRAIN?]

And what does this one involve? I've never been much of a fan of the others.

Look. It's really simple. Have you ever seen Star Trek? The old TV show.

[She can't stop grinning. She is so excited, okay.]

No. ( Life on the run, Shepard ) But I'm sure you'll enlighten me.

It's a 20th century show about how humanity imagined space travel before, y'know, actual space travel. So you know, they encounter aliens and stuff fucks up on their ship. Honestly they weren't that far off. But the captain's kind of this bold, brash, crazy-plan kinda guy, and his second in command is kind of the uptight, "stay on course do you reports" type.

[She's still smiling as she sets the bag down and takes out the matching shirts- command yellow for her, and science blue for Miranda.]

So y'know, I figure they fit us pretty well. Thought maybe the mansion would find it funny.

( More internal groaning. But she can't deny that is does sound slightly familiar. Shepard why you gotta be like this )

And you believe we'll be eaten by a monster if we don't do this?

( Shepard their lives are crazy enough without this impossible crazy belief )

It's not really a situation where I believe anything. I've seen this mansion spawn zombies, Miranda. If people say that's what's happening, it's going to happen. I've seen it too many times for this one to be fake too. Not every world is like ours, and what seems impossible for us is totally normal to them.

[She shrugs. It's just something she's had to accept since coming here.]

Then it might happen. That doesn't mean we can't do something about it.

( Something other than these dumb costumes. You were up for fighting Reapers, Shepard, fight this! )

In Wonderland, this is doing something about it. Not every method of defeating the madness is guns, you know. Sometimes it's... an odd, extended party.

[This is more fun than fighting. C'mon Miranda, don't you think if the solution to defeating the Reapers was put on silly outfits and eat candy she'd have done it already???]

Some things have more than one method, where the result doesn't leave you a fool.

Are you telling me you'd really prefer to spend the next couple of days lying in wait for a monster attack and then fighting for your life instead of putting on a shirt and knocking on doors?

You can't get the jump on something no one's seen and Wonderland could literally just create around a corner. This place is basically omniscient. C'mon, everybody's doing it. It's not like it'll just be us getting laughed at.

Just for a couple of days. Events never go longer than five. This one might not even hit that.

Trust me. This is gonna be funny. Besides, these guys are always carrying around guns, so it'll be a good excuse to keep our pistols. Just pair some black pants with these and we're good to go.

[She's not bothering with wigs. That's too much work, and she doesn't think the mansion's gonna care that much.]
