Summary: The Summerween Trickster has made his decree - Trick or treat...or die! This is a mingle log for Trick-or-Treating!
The Story:



On the morning of the 24th, everyone will find that the mansion was inexplicably decorated for Halloween...sort of. The idea behind the decorations is mostly the same, except that every jack-o-lantern is made out of a watermelon instead of a pumpkin. No, this is SUMMERWEEN.

For the first day it will be harmless enough, just a change in décor and a little spooky summer fun. However, by the second day there will be sightings of the Summerween Trickster, a creepy fellow made entirely out of unpopular loser candy, and he is not happy. In the entrance hall, there will be a giant jack-o-melon container with a counter and a count-down clock ticking away to the end of the event.

Your job, Wonderland, is to trick-or-treat for your lives. You have until the end of the event to deliver one million pieces of candy to the jack-o-melon before the end of the event, to appease the Summerween Trickster.

What was that? You'll just sit this out and wait for the event to end? I wouldn't do that if I were you. You see, the Summerween Trickster could be lurking around any corner. If he catches someone not fully embracing the spirit of Summerween (refusing to trick or treat, not wearing a costume, etc), they will not survive the experience. The Trickster will kill them and swallow them whole, making them part of his horrible loser candy body.

What would you do?

Contact anyone who has encountered a demon like this before. Find out all there is to know about it. While we do, gather all of those who would fight. I heard that it shows itself to those who refuse to engage in its ritual, so summoning it should be easy enough, once we are prepared to take it on.

[ Details may depend on what they can yet learn about the creature, but that should be the general idea. ]

Then hopefully we have the manpower. ( Though she doesn't really expect that they will. Few would take on such a dangerous mission ) I know a few people that would be good for the fight. I can talk to them.

[ F i n a l l y. ]

I do, as well. Once we have our numbers we can make an appeal to the mansion at large for anyone else who would join. Loath as I am to say it, it might be best if we kept up this-- [ urgh ] if we kept this up, until we can deny the creature its chance to pick off those who refuse one by one.

[ Even talking about such defection may pose a risk already, but Cullen hopes that there is something in the ritual Summerween proceedings which might mask their unwillingness. He takes that cue to knock on another door, and say the words. Two pieces of candy are flung at him, and he bags them. Sixty-eight, he counts. ]

--And I believe introductions are in order first. I'm Commander Cullen, I serve the reborn Inquisition of Thedas.

( GROAN. She was really hoping that they could ditch these costumes quickly )

( Because she guesses that that will mean as little to him as the Inquisition of Thedas does to her )

Keeping the costumes may stop it knowing where to hit until we're ready.

I'd prefer to be rid of them sooner than later, but the advantage may be of use.

[ If the creature cannot sense emotion to a degree that will allow it to detect their intentions, but unfortunately there is no strategical reason not to make the attempt. ]

Cerberus, I'm afraid the name means little to me. [ To his world, that might be hardly surprising. ] What sort of- group is it?

[ Group? That term ought to be broad enough. ]

( Great minds thing alike, Cullen. She's liking you. If only she could be out of this stupid thing that Shepard put her in right now )

We're a pro-human interest group. ( To downplay it. Terrorists, some would say ) Right now we're trying to save the world.

[ Cullen quirks an eyebrow. Humans as a whole hardly require much aid for their causes. If anyone could benefit from such an organisation, then it would be elves. Strange, to think another world so different in that regard. Perhaps he'll have an opportunity to ask about it, another time. ]

The latter our groups have in common. [ A beat. ] It makes you wonder, if the force behind this realm seeks out worlds in chaos, specifically.

[ He can't attest to the state of everyone's home, but the ones he recalls seemed similarly precarious, in some fashion or other. ]

This world seems to strive on chaos.

( She arrived to the darkspawn, and it wasn't long before there was something after that )

Perhaps we're fuel for it.

Some demons relish suffering. And cause more to feast on. It would certainly explain a great deal.

[ About why it chooses who it chooses. About its purpose for choosing at all. Less so about the incredible power it wields to make all that possible. ]

In any event, we should get to work. I will contact you again when I've spoken to my people.
