Summary: The Summerween Trickster has made his decree - Trick or treat...or die! This is a mingle log for Trick-or-Treating!
The Story:



On the morning of the 24th, everyone will find that the mansion was inexplicably decorated for Halloween...sort of. The idea behind the decorations is mostly the same, except that every jack-o-lantern is made out of a watermelon instead of a pumpkin. No, this is SUMMERWEEN.

For the first day it will be harmless enough, just a change in décor and a little spooky summer fun. However, by the second day there will be sightings of the Summerween Trickster, a creepy fellow made entirely out of unpopular loser candy, and he is not happy. In the entrance hall, there will be a giant jack-o-melon container with a counter and a count-down clock ticking away to the end of the event.

Your job, Wonderland, is to trick-or-treat for your lives. You have until the end of the event to deliver one million pieces of candy to the jack-o-melon before the end of the event, to appease the Summerween Trickster.

What was that? You'll just sit this out and wait for the event to end? I wouldn't do that if I were you. You see, the Summerween Trickster could be lurking around any corner. If he catches someone not fully embracing the spirit of Summerween (refusing to trick or treat, not wearing a costume, etc), they will not survive the experience. The Trickster will kill them and swallow them whole, making them part of his horrible loser candy body.

[He complains as he reaches up to adjust it, despite the fact that he doesn't need to breathe.]

You'll live. Or... not, as the case may be. [ she does the adjusting for him, waving his hands aside ]

Cute.

[He lets out a derisive snort, even as he drops his hands and lets her take over.]

I'm not sure I have the jawline for this.

[allaboutme]

I mean, we can't all be George Clooney, but you do alright. [ and she pats him on the jaw once to illustrate before finally drawing back ]

George Clooney? That's your go-to Batman?

[Come on. Michael Keaton had so much more personality.]

[allaboutme]

Uh yeah. He's a mega-babe. [ duh ] You look fine. I mean, I'm pretty sure Batman doesn't slouch that much, but it'll do.

[vampdetective]

I don't slouch.

[He does, and he even makes a not-so-discreet effort to try and straighten up.]

We ready to go? We should probably get on this if we don't want to attract the wrong kind of attention.

[Summerween Trickster, stay in your lane.]

[allaboutme]

Right, tracking down one million pieces of candy, no big.

[ she'll start down the hall, adjusting her bracers one last time ] How many of us are there anyway?

[vampdetective]

[He follows along without needing to be prodded, mulling the question over for a moment.]

People in the mansion? Maybe a little over a hundred. It's hard to tell, the way people come and go.

[allaboutme]

So each of us has to get like, ten thousand pieces?

[vampdetective]

[That's some quick math. He deflates, just a little. It sounds like so much more than he'd been anticipating.]

Yeah, something like that. That's one hell of a potential sugar coma.

[allaboutme]

[ math skills have proven important irl when it comes to managing their money ]

Who would want all that anyway?

[vampdetective]

[Definitely a good thing, considering Angel's never been great with things like investments-- but his being incredibly cheap has to help somewhat with penny-pinching, doesn't it?

Wryly:]

Apparently monsters don't go into sugar-shock as easily as the rest of us. Maybe this thing is fueled by corn syrup.

[Look. It could be a thing.]

[allaboutme]

I guess we've seen weirder. [ she stops at the first door, knocking insistently ] Hey, open up!

[vampdetective]

I think you're supposed to say--

[He cuts himself off, clearing his throat before he offers up the words himself, albeit hesitantly.]

Trick or treat?

[allaboutme]

[ the door creaks open just far enough for them to get showered with a couple pieces each, and cordelia tries to catch them against her chest to avail ] Hey! Rude.

[vampdetective]

What--

[Thankfully, those vampire-fast reflexes help him catch at least one of his pieces, although the other bounces off his shoulder.]

Pretty sure that's not how this is supposed to work.

[allaboutme]

Who lives there, anyway?

[vampdetective]

Don't know. This place could probably benefit from nameplates on the doors. Might not belong to anyone-- there are easily more rooms than people.

[Infinite corridors will do that.]

[allaboutme]

So we're getting candy from what? Ghosts?

[vampdetective]

More like the house itself, I'm assuming. Magic?

[That's usually the answer for everything around here.]

[allaboutme]

Right. Who needs internal logic of any kind. [ she nods to the next door ] Well?

[vampdetective]

It seems good enough for the natives.

[He grimaces, moving on to the next door and knocking. God, this is stupid.]
