Summary: The Summerween Trickster has made his decree - Trick or treat...or die! This is a mingle log for Trick-or-Treating!
The Story:



On the morning of the 24th, everyone will find that the mansion was inexplicably decorated for Halloween...sort of. The idea behind the decorations is mostly the same, except that every jack-o-lantern is made out of a watermelon instead of a pumpkin. No, this is SUMMERWEEN.

For the first day it will be harmless enough, just a change in décor and a little spooky summer fun. However, by the second day there will be sightings of the Summerween Trickster, a creepy fellow made entirely out of unpopular loser candy, and he is not happy. In the entrance hall, there will be a giant jack-o-melon container with a counter and a count-down clock ticking away to the end of the event.

Your job, Wonderland, is to trick-or-treat for your lives. You have until the end of the event to deliver one million pieces of candy to the jack-o-melon before the end of the event, to appease the Summerween Trickster.

What was that? You'll just sit this out and wait for the event to end? I wouldn't do that if I were you. You see, the Summerween Trickster could be lurking around any corner. If he catches someone not fully embracing the spirit of Summerween (refusing to trick or treat, not wearing a costume, etc), they will not survive the experience. The Trickster will kill them and swallow them whole, making them part of his horrible loser candy body.

[Hawke mirrors her grin as he takes in her costume. Certainly not what he might have expected, but she wears it and well and -- Hawke is very careful not to look like he's leering.] A little, but it's worth it to represent Fereldan during this strange.. occasion.

[He's just as serious for a moment before his face cracks with a laugh.]

He wasn't very happy with me, but some of the doors are giving him treats too so I think he's enjoying himself more than he lets on. [He bends down to scratch Oren behind the ears.] Had much trouble with the doors?

Ah. Well, I'm sure all of Ferelden would respect your efforts.

[ What noble sacrifice!! She laughs, then, earnest and warm. ]

Anything for treats. [ She tuts at their animals, mirroring Hawke by giving scratches to Dog. ] We haven't had much trouble, no. There were some strange things behind a few of them, but nothing particularly threatening.

[ Yet. Robyn glances up at the Champion, head tilting slightly in question. ]

You seem as if you're having fun.

[bloodmagics]

[Hawke bows, making the already ridiculous costume look even more ridiculous.]

Anything to make my country proud.

[When he surfaces, he's still grinning because despite the threat of the Summerween Trickster, it's a lighthearted event and he'll take those over constant death and destruction.]

I'm glad to hear it! It's a strange holiday, especially when you consider what we're used to, but some of these 'tricks' seem a bit.. cruel.

[He makes a face, shuddering at the memory, though he nods at Robyn's remark.]

Besides the spiders that got thrown in my face.

I think you'd be getting of easily, earning the pride of an entire country with just a change of clothes.

[ If only! Alas, that sounds more like Orlais than Ferelden. And, anyway, it would have to be a fancier outfit for them to applaud it. Nothing with mabari, naturally. ]

Cruel? [ She questions, though he explains by mention of spiders and she makes a face. ] Oh, I haven't had anything like that. Not yet, anyway. Now I may be expecting it at every turn, though.

[ Not that she has much of a problem with spiders, personally. Still, who would want them thrown in your face? ]

Have you seen any of the others? [ Robyn presses curiously. ] I've been wondering what everyone chose to dress as, but you're the first I've seen. Well, besides Dorian, who... looked a little like a counterpart to Isabela, actually.

[bloodmagics]

Ah, I suppose you're right. I'll just have to work harder and make sure everyone in Wonderland knows how great Ferelden is, I suppose. [A momentary pause.] And that Orlais is just awful.

[He couldn't resist.]

I think it might just be my luck, but it might be a good idea to be prepared to dive out of the way.

[Given that she's a rogue, she might have more luck avoiding them than he did. He stops to think for a moment at her question, scratching at his chin and checking for more spiders.]

Dorian showed up to make sure I was getting ready, and I had to talk Cullen into dressing up but those are the only two I've seen. I still can't believe he let me talk him into dressing like an Avvar.

[heroica]

We certainly haven't done enough of that, yet. [ Maybe they could make an informative pamphlet. ] We have to take measures in case one of them is brought here!

[ Imagine being stuck in the mansion with a bunch of Orlesians! Gross!! ]

I'm always prepared. [ Robyn assures him. ] It's part of being a rogue, you know.

[ Light on her feet. The small stature helps, too. ]

I can't imagine the Commander dressing up for this. [ She says, sounding curious. ] Why did you talk him into dressing like an Avvar?

[bloodmagics]

[The shudder that ripples through Hawke is either feigned or a hundred percent real. Not even he's sure which.]

Maker, I hope not. Wonderland is bad enough without adding Orlesians to the mix.

[Ah, national pride.]

Right. Sorry. [He grins apologetically.] Neither of the rogues I know are really... traditional. You might've met Isabela?

[Guess who has no idea who met Isabela first?]

He needs to lighten up. [Hawke shrugs.] I figured something not from Thedas wouldn't work, and he seemed happier when he realised it meant he could have a weapon.

[That and have you seen his abs, Robyn?]

[heroica]

Can you imagine? [ She giggles, warmed and delighted to be in the company of another person who understands how truly Bad Orlais is. ]

I... do. She's a friend. [ And when they'd first met, she had quickly propositioned Robyn and invited a threesome, which brings pink to the Warden's cheeks even so long after. ] She talks about you, you know. [ Then, with a laugh: ] All good things, though, I promise.

[ Robyn's yet to find anyone who doesn't seem to like Hawke. ]

He does at that. [ Better to be a little stiff and serious than to be... how she'd first met him. ] At least he tries to be prepared.

[ And no, she certainly hasn't seen his abs!! ]
