+ FOURTH WALL EVENT: GENERAL NON-PARTY MINGLE POST +

Who: E V E R Y O N E
Where: Everywhere that isn't one of the parties! Both Sides!
When: Sept 1st to Sept 10th
Rating: G to PG-13 (please label higher ratings, thank you!)
Summary: Wonderful parties are springing up all across Wonderland, but there are still plenty of other places to explore. This is a log for any new arrivals who want to experience different parts of Wonderland life, and any current guests not in the mood for a log or transmission of their own.

Please also see THE FOURTH WALL MASTER POST for rules, information, and all the fun parties you can visit!
The Story:

On the morning of September 1st, everyone in Wonderland, on both Real and Mirror Side, will awake to find one of four possible invitations has been shoved under their doors. The glass has been carefully removed from all mirrors, and everyone will be able to cross to and from Mirror Side with ease, without forcing any sort of swap. The Queen of Hearts' chambers, discovered in the previous event, will be mysteriously inaccessible, leading only to a tearoom.

Additionally, there will be many more Wonderland guests than usual, each of them with their own random invitation and network device (wired to make replies only). As the week goes on, as per the invitations, more and more parties will appear (and everyone is invited to all of them, whether they received an invitation or not). But who brought them here? Why are there so many parties? Who is responsible for all of this exactly?

It's anyone's guess, though if parties or riddles are not your style, then there is always plenty more to see...

mwhaha, time for confusion.

[ Caitlin never got the chance to say goodbye. The last time she'd seen Laurel was when they were all dealing with Kendra, Carter, and Vandal Savage. They'd won that day, and the thought never entered her mind that it would be the last time, the last fight she'd share with the woman.

She couldn't bear to attend the funeral. There's been enough of those to last her a lifetime.

So when she spots Laurel outside the mansion, her heart jumps. She isn't one to get emotional or pounce, but she makes a beeline to her side.
] Laurel?

[ Once she has her attention, she smiles and spreads her hands in a gesture of "well..." ]

It's Wonderland. And yes, I know how crazy that sounds.

Okay. [Clementine's voice is soft at the answer. She understands being guarded, being worried. She can be too, and Wonderland has shifted virtually overnight. People appearing out of nowhere. Invitations with creepy, vague messages.

She relaxes when she sees Pearl relax. Her shoulders ease back as she sinks down on a bench.]

It's what I'm worried about too. There are a lot of new people, and there are the invitations too. Did you get one?

[The courtyard is beautiful, though in a very manicured sort of way -- Merida likes the more wild beauty of Dun Broch, but this is okay, too. The fact that it's a place she doesn't recognize is not so frightening in and of itself; it seems to be the sort of thing that happens to her, and until danger presents itself there's no reason to panic just now. But, that doesn't mean she's not curious.]

Excuse me -- I've found myself a little lost, could you tell me where I am?
brainleak: (something throws me away)

[It happened. She's sure of it now. It happened twice. They're admitting it.

They're making it repeat. They're doing what Frisk can do. What she's never seen them do.

River looks at them, unimpressed.
]

It's soft cartilage. Easiest weak point on the face.

[And least deadly, good for stunning and getting a good running start on an escape. But they're not going to let her escape, are they? They're determined.

She needs another way out of this. She doesn't want to have to kill them, but if she has no other choice...
]

Could go for your eyes instead, if you prefer.

[ Returning to Wonderland can hardly be a good sign, especially with everything that Martha's heard ever since she got back, but she's trying to make the best of it all the same. If her theory is right and she's only here for a short trip, then she wants to make sure that she says hello to as many friends as she can.

Of course, a lot has changed since she was here, and so most of the people who she passes by are strangers. All the same, Martha's determined to seek out as many familiar faces as she can, and so she's been all over the mansion and the grounds a few times over by now.

After another route to the beach, the woods, and the second mansion, Martha's downright exhausted and ready to turn in. Her old room isn't available to her anymore, but it hadn't been hard to find a new one.

As she passes through the gardens, however, she sees someone seated by the fountain, hunched over themselves. They seem to be in distress, but as she draws closer, she realizes that she knows them. ]

Owen?! [ All that exhaustion disappears as Martha rushes over to him, falling to a knee in front of him. ] Owen, are you all right? [ She's a doctor, after all, she can tell when something is wrong. ]

[ Caitlin spots Jemma in the kitchen, only recognizing her because she'd addressed everyone with video instead of the other options. She watches her a moment as the other woman seems to stare at what could be an empty, glassless picture frame. Except she knows it isn't; it is, or was, a mirror, and like all the others, the mirror part is gone.

She clears her throat softly, basically a 'you're not alone' sound. No need to out-and-out startle her.
]

I had the same thought. The mirrors. What's over there, what the mirror version of myself would be like. But I've already met my doppelganger once, back home. I'm not really keen on reliving the experience.

[Amethyst can't help but grin at that. Oh boy. Of course Pearl would assume she was her Real. She's not sure how long she can keep up the charade, as she finds Real Amethyst's general everything to be genuinely distasteful, but it could be interesting to see where this leads.]

Whoops! Guess I got poofed. [She shrugs.] I suppose I simply can't be left alone! Just look at what hijinks I get into!

[The Junker shifts in his bed, muttering. Hugging his pillow close to his own chest. Upon closer inspection, Asgore might notice a few grenades, a large tire with spikes on his back.

He rolls over and looks up sleepily at the large goat man. His eyes are half open, barely registering what he's seeing. But he can see fur. And a crown was it?

He stares at him for a moment longer before he waves his hand dismissively.]

Gimme five more minutes, mate. [And with that, he snuggles into the large bed with a sleepy pleasant smile.]

[Jemma hasn't had the time to ask specific questions about the mirrors -- it had put Fitz on edge and she saw no reason to upset him more, but well. She wouldn't be her if she weren't curious.]

So the other side of the mirror... but of course, if it's Alice in Wonderland, of course mirrors would be doorways.

[Jemma looks as Caitlin for the first time. Hello, by the way.]

So there's people on the other side, as well.

Doesn't have an economy. Makes what I'd make of it a lot more difficult.

[Not that he hasn't had a few thoughts already, but that's another matter.]

So, life on the other side ain't your style?
dustiest: (* They don't interest you at all.)

[personal profile] dustiest 2016-09-05 12:52 am (UTC)(link)
[Picked that up, did she? Well, good. It was getting tiresome, and at least now they're likely to get things a little more interesting.

And she's shaping up to be more than the terrified girl uttering nonsensical phrases - not Frisk, as if that would be enough to banish them, really! - and this is infinitely more intriguing.]

Yes. I suppose you could.

[And then, just because they can, they step back and spread their arms wide, an obvious baiting ploy. They're confident in their ability to dodge the worst of what she can throw at them - perhaps overly - but it'd be best to gauge what she's capable of.]

My, my. But no wonder you and Frisk get along so well! You're both exactly the same!
brainleak: (shadows in the pines)

[personal profile] brainleak 2016-09-05 01:10 am (UTC)(link)
[They're obviously baiting her. River glares at them. Might as well get as much of an advantage here as she can.

A kick to the temple can be blocked by their outstretched arms. A jab to the eyes can be easily dodged, humans are built to avoid damage to that region. Another broken nose just means another rewind.
]

How are we the same?

[When they start to answer, River lunges forward, going for another weak point in the face. She propels her knee towards their chin, aiming to knock their head back. As she goes, she pushes her full weight onto them in the hopes of knocking them down completely.]

She probably did. Either that, or it was all a ruse in the first place... but I doubt it was.

[Garnet stands in the entrance hall while holding an invitation in hand. She appears to be reading it while standing absolutely still; tall and statuesque, and who even knows what's going on behind that visor?

And then...

And then she looks up from the invite. She hadn't seen this coming. Of all the possibilities stretching out in her mind, appearing here hadn't been among them.]

[ Holy shit. A beautiful woman just walks in like she knows him. So he assumes he must - weirdly - look exactly like some dude she's fucking. He should tell her right away that he's not him, but this is Damien Scott. He's not gonna forfeit the opportunity to kiss a beautiful woman.

Cradling her face between his hands in return, he puts a lot of emotion into his responding kiss, and it gradually becomes more heated. ]

Simple -

[And she cuts them off mid-monologue, the little snake! Still, though, they'd be almost disappointed in her if she hadn't. They try to slide out of the way, but it's too little, too late; her knee sends their head snapping back, and they end up sprawled on the ground, face-up.

Frisk rolls, attempting to recover their equilibrium as they stand.]

You both pretend you're so harmless, and simple! When really, you're more dangerous than anyone can imagine! Too dangerous to be allowed to live, frankly, but that's not up to me.

[But it certainly could be!]

[With all the people appearing from home, Amethyst has been on the lookout for more familiar faces. Garnet's exactly who she has in mind as she scans the area outside, where most people seem to be. She's out there for a while, just looking, when she finally gives up and reenters the mansion.

To come face to face with Garnet.

Amethyst stares for a moment, dumbfounded.

Then she laughs and rushes for Garnet, latching onto her in a hug.

[Toriel's just walking down the hall, off to pay a visit to the kitchen, currently lost in thought about what kind of meal Chara might like, when she spots Frisk.

She tries not to stiffen up- or at least not make it obvious. No real reason to stop and make conversation or look too closely- just. Walk on past. You'll be fine, Toriel, just give them a simple greeting and be on your way.]

GARDENS:

[He foresaw this with one of his many eyes, but that didn't make it any less weird. That's alright though; he liked weird. He'd made it his eternal business to deal with Weird. After he'd fallen through the portal, an opportunistic deal with some kind of dark mass he'd made along the way changed his life forever--literally, forever.

There were definitely several other versions of himself running around, all from Dimension 46'\--and several versions of his brother, too--and of course, his niece and nephew--and Fiddleford McGucket--and somewhere in the ether of this dimension lurked Bill Cipher. It would be nice to speak to them all--except for Bill--but even with Ford's many eyes, it was difficult to know for certain the wisdom of doing so.

Within the lush and uncanny greenery, Ford can be seen on a lawn chair catching a few rays of sun in his recognizable trenchcoat. While one might debate the wearing of the coat while sunning, it might be more prudent to take note of the writhing mass of darkness that seemed to make up Ford's upper half, and the strange multitude of eyes that were blinking like twinkling lights. Strangest of all was that the darkness didn't seem to reflect any light--it absorbed it all, and looking at this version of Ford was like looking at a very contained and impossibly visible black hole.

Only two of his eyes are closed and his hands are folded at his chest.

You could try sneaking up on the weird old man(?) but he'll see you coming. And if you look at him from a distance, one of the eyes will meet yours and watch you silently.

Will you approach him anyway?]

LIBRARY:

[What a library! The sheer volume of information here is almost overwhelming, even for him, and he feeds off the knowledge of the multiverse.

Ford can be found sitting quietly reading no less than six books at once, at least five of them held aloft and open by black filaments extending from underneath his coat.

At one point, he may say aloud without looking from from any of his books: ]

--Watch your step.

[He Sees a lot of things.]

[ She looks over at him and honestly, he's the first person she's spoken to since she got here. He's not one of the same faces she's seen for three and a half years. He's new, and different, and she nods after taking a sip of her drink. ]

I did. Same story with you? Seems like there are a lot of us who've never been here before.

[Garnet stares back, and when Amethyst rushes for her, she smiles and hugs her tightly. This wasn't really a surprise, but it's a relief nonetheless.]

Guess us killers should stick together.

[It's not an inaccurate assessment, at least as far as River's concerned.

She really ought to start carrying a knife on her.

With their arms no longer outstretched, she aims for the face yet again. This time, with a sweeping roundhouse kick to the temple. If the temple is hit hard enough, it can cause a blackout. That's all she needs to put a stop to the rewinding and escape.
]
