[OPEN MINGLE] Or perhaps in Slytherin

Who: Slytherin House! (And friends and visitors, of course!)
Where: Slytherin Common Room, Quidditch Pitch, various places around Hogwarts
When: Duration of the event
Rating: G (will edit as necessary)
Summary: Slytherin open log!
The Story:

The Slytherin common room was a long, low underground room with rough stone walls and ceiling, from which round, greenish lamps were hanging on chains. A fire was crackling under an elaborately carved mantelpiece ahead of them, and several Slytherins were silhouetted around it in carved chairs.

The common room has changed, somewhat, from its historical description, thanks to the decorative powers of one Mettaton. Though it still extends beneath the lake and thus retains a greenish, aquatic cast, it's much more brightly lit, its cold, damp atmosphere replaced with dazzling MTT-brand warmth. Even the giant squid, occasionally peering in as it does its rounds of the lake, seems just a shade more glamorous inside such a charming space.

Students - and a ghost or two - can be found nestled within its confines, plotting mischief around the fire, studiously doing their homework (as good students do), or perhaps trading Chocolate Frog trading cards. Though Slytherin is not especially well-known for its wide-open, trusting nature, Slytherins are known for not snitching on each other; if a guest or two were to creep in for a while, then odds are, nobody saw anything.

[ it's practically in the slytherin handbook, conversations like these. obviously she doesn't believe the excuse she's handing so conveniently over to him and obviously she's been watching him. it's probable she has been for awhile. (that panic curls tight, reaches further and deeper under his skin.) she's watching him now, lurking by his rounds, attempting to catch him alone and unawares.

for all of klaus' strengths in strategy, he has not yet mastered deceit. he never could; was always caught as a child, could never train his expression with natural ease. there is something conscious about how his smile fades to acted curiosity, his brow lifting with question and challenge.

but that's nothing compared to how his countenance freezes when he looks down at her offering. how he swallows, a thick lump in his throat. everything is still, the beating of his heart loud, as loud as the fear filling him to the brim. it's a moment before he mutely reaches out to take the package, though not with the intention of accepting it:

with the intention of confirming it is what he knows it must be.

and just like that, his smile slowly returns and he lifts his eyes to hers.
] I didn't realize you cared.

[ Noting the way he freezes before reaching out for the box, she tips her head to the side thoughtfully before reassuring him, meeting his gaze evenly. ]

It's chocolate, from Hogsmeade. I picked it up earlier, thought maybe one of the ickles might enjoy it. Sometimes it helps when I'm in a mood.

[ Her lips quirk faintly a moment later. ] I promise I'm not trying to poison you, if that's what you're worried about. Definitely no love potion snuck into them either [ since that had been a thing in one of the other Houses earlier this year. ] You're cute, Klaus, but way too high maintenance for me.

[ w h a t reassurance that is. :| klaus is certainly not feeling reassured, but he does listen carefully to what she is saying, and what she might mean to say. so far it's simply that she suspects more if not everything he's not letting on, and that's enough for klaus to reconsider her.

he's never disliked natasha but then again he's never bothered much with her either, content with his insular group of friends. he would have considered her neutrally enough before this moment, despite knowing just how keen an eye she has and how expertly she can hide her motives. (perhaps it's why he's never gotten too close.)

now, however...
] A pity. [ it's not. ] I never took you for a philanthropist.

Oh, I'm not. [ Have an exaggerated eye roll, and she can't even blame that accusation on Stark at the moment. ] I don't give a damn about most people in this school. But this? [ She reaches out to give a light tug on his tie. ] Is still supposed to mean something, right?

[ Or so they've been reminded, again and again, since they first arrived in first year. ]
