[He issues a soft sigh from where he lays, as if all of this might go away if he just...doesn't get up.]

Quite.

[The word is expelled with a sense of bitter acceptance, and his arm emerges to grasp the edge of the coffin and help pull himself up to sit.]

I see Wonderland is up to its tricks again.

I'm trying to decide if I should be grateful that this time, at least, it hasn't messed with my memories.

[It's a small comfort, but it's something.]

The stairs don't seem to go anywhere, I've tried them already. It's some sort of trick.

Even when the entire bloody mess of being here in the first place is over, I'll be far from grateful.

[It's been a day, to say the least.]

Endless staircase, hm? How very original of our captors.

[He glances around, looking for another kind of exit.]

I assume there's no other doors. Perhaps we're looking for some kind of hidden switch or hatch? It wouldn't be the first dungeon to have a secret back door.

It's worth a shot. It seems like every one of these place has had some sort of trick to it.

[They've all been puzzles of sorts, though some more obvious than others. She supposes it's good she's at least stuck with a stranger this time and not someone she actively dislikes.

For the little that counts as a good thing.]

It's like Halloween without the treats.

[He moves his hands across the walls, trying to find some kind of depress-able stone, but to no avail.]

So, who do I have the pleasure of being trapped in a potentially hellish nightmarescape this time?

Did you try the treats they had out on Halloween? They were pretty much tricks themselves.

[She'll definitely think twice about eating food randomly out in the future.]

Rebekah Mikaelson. And you would be?

I did. Got a bit lucky on that one, fortunately. No worse for the wear.

[He doesn't so much as look over his shoulder when he replies, seemingly too busy searching the place.]

Lucifer Morningstar. Perhaps you've heard of me?

[easily]

[there's a bark of a laugh at that, of course she doesn't take it seriously.]

Lucifer Morningstar? You've named yourself after the Devil? That's a little dramatic, don't you think?

[walkingheroin]

Well, no. It would be stealing, if it weren't for the fact that I am the Devil.

[He adjusts the cuffs of his shirt, glancing over at her.]

I have a few names, actually. That one just happens to be my favorite.

[easily]

Considering everything I've heard here, I suppose meeting the actual Devil isn't the strangest thing to happen.

[A little weird though, definitely, if only because she's never been particularly religious one way or another herself. If there's a Devil does that mean there's a God as well?

I'm rather convinced that Wonderland itself is the strangest thing to ever happen to anyone.

[He looks back around the room, growing visibly irritated as the moments pass without seemingly any progress before he kicks his foot against the nearby wall.]

I have half a mind to try those stairs again myself. This is bloody annoying.

I am too. Which is saying something, considering some of the things that have happened to me.

[Annoying is putting it lightly. The situation is downright infuriating.]

Maybe if we try to go up them together, we'll have different results. Maybe they're waiting for some sort of team work.

[walkingheroin]

Wouldn't that be contrived of the place.

[He sighs, gesturing toward the stairs.]

Very well. It can't make things worse, I suppose.

[easily]

One can hope.

[She makes her way to the stairs and sure enough, when she tries going up them this time she seems to have better luck than when she went up by herself]

[walkingheroin]

Well, wonderful, it's trying to get us to be all buddy-buddy with strangers.

[He continues to climb the stairs beside her.]

It's like Wonderland is trying to convince us to submit to some kind of bizarre Stockholm Syndrome.

[easily]

It must be the whole misery is company theory at work -- they figure suffering will bring us all together or some other bullshit like that.

[She's not entirely sure she buys it.]

I've seen the worst suffering there is. Believe me, it doesn't bring anyone together.

[He says it with more bitterness than he should as he trudges up the stairs. At least doing this doesn't hurt his legs.]

I thought you were supposed to like suffering -- or is that one of the things we've gotten wrong over the years?

[she imagines there's a lot. perhaps some of it might be intentional, like how niklaus had created the sun and moon curse for his own devices.]

I enjoy punishing those who deserve it. Not quite the same thing, in my opinion.

[His opinion is very important, tyvm.]

It's always more fun when they enjoy it, I can't argue with you on that one.

[She may not be Satan or anything but she's more than punished a few people in her time.]

Ah, but when I'm involved, I make sure they don't enjoy it in the slightest. It's punishment they deserve. Not pleasure.

[He really shouldn't sound so pleased about it.]

Fair enough. That can be fun too, depending on who you're punishing.

Now you've got it.

[He glances around, growing frustrated with the fact that they're still here, however.]

It seems Wonderland enjoys dishing out its own punishment as well if the current event is any indication.

So it would seem. There has to be some sort of way to get out. Some trick we aren't seeing.

Yes, of course. But what is it?

[He moves to lean against a wall.]
