klaus is certain of that, considering where they are is in a church, and quite the familiar one. it's empty, quiet as the dead as klaus rises from his prostrate place on the altar steps. the pews are empty and each breath and movement seems to echo against his preternatural senses.
anticipation and panic wraps a hand around his heart and squeezes; for a moment he believes he is home. truly, actually released. but st. anne's is not a church anymore and moreover, he knows it enough to know it viscerally. that cloth on the altar is father kieran's. that statue was destroyed. this isn't real.
and what's that he hears? ]

[yes, hell is a church where klaus is also apparently. he should have asked lucifer what hell is really like, because this? this seems like hell. damon hasn't been inside of a church since before he became a vampire, and then it was only because of his father.

a heavy, long-suffering sigh. klaus doesn't need to turn around to know who the owner of that unfortunate voice is, so he does bow his head to weather the niggling beginnings of agitation.

i'm a troll. he's on edge. the kind of edge that creeps up over and doesn't let go, and where the hell is elena? is she okay? if he's with klaus, who did she have the misfortune of getting stuck with? he swallows and then shifts. gaze tearing through the area, but no, this is- this is wonderful.]Where the hell is here other than a church? Someone going for irony? Are we about to be smited?
