MOVIE NIGHT | dated to Tuesday afternoon

Charlie knows she was slacking off. Well, "moping" was more accurate: after Dean and Sam mysteriously vanished, she wasn't in much of a mood to do anything. After all, it seemed like even they couldn't do anything about whatever had kidnapped everyone. So she'd done what any reasonable nerd would do: gotten her closet to give her all the video games she never had time to play, and holed up in her room.

By the end of the week, at least, she was sick and tired of her self-imposed isolation (and Mass Effect, gasp), and with Dean's return? Well, it was something, at least. So she'd finally printed out flyers and obtained some Blurays, which was a little weird after all the downloading she did back home.

By the end of it, the ballroom had been decked out with a four foot tall HD flatscreen and a lot of comfy chairs. Charlie felt a little proud and sheepish all at once; this whole thing wasn't just for her, it was about building a sense of community, helping people relax. And boy, did everyone need that after riddles and monster rampages.


[So, we had a four-way tie, so we're going to do two things now and two next month! The rest of the things on the list will come along after that. That said, the winners are:

Alice in Wonderland and Iron Man! So basically it'll be more like Movie...Afternoon and Evening, starting at 2pm with the more kid-friendly movies (this labelling is questionable) and running to about 10. There will be lots of chairs/couches and a nice big screen, plus drinks and snacks on tables. And popcorn. Lots of popcorn. If you think your character would volunteer to help move chairs and stuff down, feel free to assume they did!]

[After one movie, the novelty has - more or less - worn off for Toothless. He gets up and locates Clara by her scent, having to move around the room rather than through it. Being a fairly large dragon has its disadvantages. Finally, though, he shows up at Clara's side and gives her a gentle and friendly nudge with his snout. Hi, Viking friend.]

[Clara's focus takes a bit to move over from the film to Toothless, but when her attention finally shifts over she offers her dragon friend a smile and some scratching behind the ears.]

Didn't know that dragons liked going to the cinema. [She teases, leaning in a bit closer so she can speak without disturbing anyone else around them.]

Are you enjoying yourself then?

[Toothless rumbles quietly back, looking unsure. The box of light intrigues him, as do the sounds coming from it, but he's not sure why everyone is so enraptured. Is this a strange Viking pastime he's never seen before? Is it what they do when they go into their little homes?

But scratching is always good, and his eyelids go to half-mast.]

[Clara goes on scratching and petting Toothless while her eyes never leave the movie. She makes notes in her mind and is observing every little thing that she sees. At a part where the dialogue becomes unimportant to her and is too in depth she zones out, and turns to pay her full attention to the dragon once again.]

Do you even like movies? Or are you here for the company? [A pause.]

Or maybe this is boring to you, and you're just waiting to go outside?

[As if in answer, the Nightfury plops down to the floor next to her chair. Even on his stomach, it's not exactly difficult for her to reach him. He's not the biggest of the dragons back home, but he's far from the smallest. This way, he can absorb both the movie and her petting. Maybe he can figure out what the big deal is.

He looks at the screen, and the frown is visible on his face as he puzzles it out.]

[She notices that he's actually watching, which puts a big smile on her face. She thinks it should be some kind of illegal, to have a dragon be so adorable. Her fingertips idly scratch at the top of his head as they watch together in silence, and she finally speaks up at a part when the Cheshire Cat shows up.]

He was always my favorite. I loved riddles when I was little. His smile reminds me a bit of yours.

[Which is definitely a compliment.]

[Toothless can't really decide about this thing yet. What on earth is the fuzzy creature with that strange set of teeth? He's never seen anything like it before. He glances at Clara, visibly confused.]

[bossily]

A bit lost?

[She can't blame him, she imagines new things like this would be hard to follow.]

He's a cat. A magical one, I suppose. A magical cat that's a bit mad. He can disappear and reappear and -

[Yeah, this isn't making things any clearer.]

He speaks in riddles, and has a huge mouth full of teeth. Those are the important things.

[A confusing cat. Okay, he can... sort of get that, he supposes, though he still looks confused. Toothless has seen at least one feline. Just a brief glimpse, before the little thing had shrieked at him in fear and run away. He flicks his ears to the side, then nods.

Cats are strange.]
