[OPEN/PARTY POST] And when you all get shot and try to carry on;
Who: Anyone and everyone who is already a participant or wishes to join the Wonderland resistance! That means you. Yes, you. Get in here!
Where: Fort Dixon-Potter
When: Sunday, 6/15, 9:00 PM and onwards.
Rating: PG by default.
Summary:
The Story:
Sometime before nine o'clock rolls around, those who know their way begin heading towards the resistance hideout in the woods -- or Fort Dixon-Potter, as its come to be known. To any who have been invited to attend but don't quite know how to get there, Daryl Dixon has made himself available to escort people to the meeting, letting people in a few at a time.
Though the resistance's de facto leader is no longer with them, several veteran members have chosen to make use of their resources and bring as many more people into the fold as they can. There's food provided for all who attend: burgers, hot dogs, and other standard cookout fare to be passed around throughout the evening. Notebooks will be handed to all new members, and all will be asked to sign their names on the official roster, for reasons. It's time to discuss how to move forward with Operation: Anti-Jabberwocky. If anyone has questions about the last eight months or so in Wonderland? Now is the time to ask.
((OOC: This log is the follow-up to this post concerning re-organizing the resistance. If you're looking for the full OOC rundown of what the resistance is and how you can use it as a tool ingame, please see the information provided here and here! Feel free to use any of the subthreads below, or start top-levels for your characters as you see fit!))

She saunters over to the table and waits for the woman to finish up with the person ho'd been there ahead of her, casually sliding a finger over the edge of one of the books in curiosity. For all appearances, they seemed relatively normal.
As the other person moved away, Natasha glanced up with a faint smile.]
So. Is this our version of secret decoder rings?
no subject
[Emma smiles wryly as she hands Natasha the next one from the top of the stack, offering a shrug.]
Secure form of communication.
no subject
How secure? How does it work?
no subject
[She raises an eyebrow, waiting a beat for the reaction. She knows. It sounds stupid. She's still working on getting over it and she's been hearing about magic nonstop for like three years now.]
Courtesy of Mr. Potter over there. Anything you write in it will show up in all the others -- they're enchanted to reflect each other, but they can't be monitored by anyone who doesn't own one. They're warded. Means no Mirrors eavesdropping.
no subject
As in, Harry?
[That's officially up there with the Musketeers and fairy tale characters.
As for the explanation, she files that explanation away with a thoughtful look.]
Well that's useful. As long as no one forgets and leaves it somewhere it could be found, I suppose.
no subject
[She'd done a double-take when she'd first heard, too, but she'd been here a year now. It's old hat, though she's still a little surprised anytime someone else from that world turns up.]
We thought of that. If anyone but the owner picks it up, the warding spell will react accordingly and turn the thing useless. Now that this is in your hands? It's yours. Anyone else tries to read it, they'll find a bunch of blank pages.
[And get insulted by the notebook itself, supposedly, but Emma hasn't seen that particular defense in practice yet.]
no subject
Instead, she nods, absorbing that information with a thoughtful look.]
Clever. And useful. Thank you. If you don't mind my asking, the information I got about what's being organized here was a little vague. What exactly are you trying to get going?
no subject
[Not that it matters much. The end result will be the same, but they'd spent too much time building and collecting resources to let it go to waste now.]
The original goal was to get people out and get them home. Things have changed a little since then. It's still on the table, but in the meantime? Wonderland likes to throw us all kinds of nasty curveballs. Not everyone is equipped to survive the more violent events on their own. Part of it is about getting people prepared, helping them to survive Wonderland long enough to get out, but around Christmas, we all got a glimpse of Wonderland's future. It's not pretty.
[She sets the stack of notebooks down, folding her arms; if they're going to be talking for a few minutes, she might as well get comfortable.]
It won't be tomorrow or next week, but before too long, there's a good chance we'll be going head to head with the Jabberwocky. We've seen what happens if we're not prepared for that. The post-Jabberwocky Wonderland was pretty grim by all accounts.
no subject
[Natasha gives a faint nod, filing that away.]
I have a friend here - several, actually, who are throwing what they can behind continuing the search for a way home. But that's not really my area of expertise. This, though. This is something I might be able to lend a hand in. Not that I've ever fought a Jabberwocky. [That should go without saying, but still.]
Besides, I hate sitting around and feeling useless, so I'm glad someone's organizing or reorganizing something.
no subject
[The remark earns Natasha an amused half-smile all the same.]
Every extra pair of hands helps. The more experienced, the better. Most people have something to offer.
[Some of them are actually kind of surprising. Her smile turns wry; she nods once in agreement.]
Sitting on my hands isn't exactly my style, either. We were adrift for awhile, but we've wasted enough time.
no subject
[She returns the wry smile with one of her own, then lets her gaze drift around the room curiously.]
So, is there someone in particular I should be talking to to volunteer my assistance, or is that delegated?
no subject
[She would know. She'd spent ages doubting her own worth concerning just about anything, and it took trial by fire to convince her otherwise. Hopefully, not everyone here will insist on learning things the hard way like she did.]
It's mostly on a volunteer basis, depending on what you think you bring to the table, but--
[Oh, God. She's in charge, isn't she -- at least partially.]
If you want to make things official, you can always talk to me? We've got a bunch of Wonderland vets on board to lead, but I'll be doing what I can to keep track of everyone.
no subject
[Natasha hadn't missed that brief flash of realization over something and it draws a crooked smile from her.]
I suppose I can make things official, whatever that involves. I'm not a vet when it comes to Wonderland just yet, although I've been doing all the information gathering I can manage. It's part of what I do back home.
no subject
[Her smile turns a little sheepish. You caught her, Natasha. Guilty as charged.]
Including me. A year goes by pretty quick in this place. Almost scary to think about.
[Especially considering the trips she'd taken home here and there in between.]
You're an information specialist? [She raises an eyebrow.] Always helpful. We could use more like you.
no subject
[She gives her an understanding smile at that, one corner of her lips tilting upwards. She gives a nod at the following question, however.]
Among other things, but that's my primary occupation, I suppose. Although it seems the information we may need the most here is tied into who and what is on the other side of the mirrors and I've yet to find any reliable way of getting enough understanding for it to be useful.
no subject
[Her year in prison had dragged, but anywhere else? As long as she found something to throw herself into, time flew by and before she knew it, it was time to pack up and find someplace new to call a temporary home.]
Understanding how things work on the other side of the glass is tricky. I've been over there once, but all of the Mirrors themselves were on this side -- not much of an opportunity to question them, but we got to do some snooping.
