Transcending limitations

Where: Mainly his laboratory but probably other places too

Summary: Doctor Whale doing science things and experimenting on people
The Story: He was always seeking answers, always wanting to push the limits. All this time in Wonderland and he never tried to really push those limits. But something about this particular weekend made him forego any restraint. He wasn't going to stop until he found answers.

If people got hurt in the process, he did happen to have Adam's healing blood. But before he got ahead of himself, he needed to find his subjects... Hopefully Luke wasn't too squemish, because Whale would need his assistant.

It's probably just as well that Ed doesn't have laser vision, otherwise, he'd be a pile of ashes. "What do you want?"

[jolting]

"I want to release you without suffering injury," Whale answered. "I've done what I can without damaging your automail, and feel satisfied in my experiment. Admittedly there isn't much I can offer you in return, but we are both scientists. I'm sure you can come up with an adequate price."

"You should have thought of that before you decided to experiment on me," Ed points out snippishly.

[jolting]

"I hardly did anything to you at all." There was a chilling lack of compassion in Whale's voice. As if he didn't even care that his methods were less than orthodox. "I could have done much worse, but I'm giving you the chance to walk away from this unscathed."

After a minute of simmering, Ed's mind focuses on something to be the price to protect Al. "I want you to promise not to touch my brother. I don't want you doing this to him."

[jolting]

No one respected the bond of brothers more than Whale. If that was all Edward really wanted, it was a simple price to pay. "Deal," he agreed, and unstraped Edward. Not that he ever intended to harm Alphonse in the first place.

Too bad Ed didn't know that. Otherwise he'd have tried to think of something else.

As it is, Ed sits up and looks for his clothes before slipping off the slate to get dressed, not turning his back on Whale. Whale caught him off-guard once, he didn't want it to happen again.

[jolting]

Too late now, the deal was struck. Whale was putting on his glasses to study the sketch he made of Edward's automail arm. He clearly was done with the boy and expected him to find his own way out of the laboratory. Not even apologizing for the kidnap, sedation, threats or any other thing he did in the name of experimentation.

Whale probably should have knocked Ed out again and left him somewhere so he couldn't find the lab or point anyone else at it.

Once Ed's dressed, he's out before Whale can change his mind and decide to do something else to him.

Yes, he probably should have done that. But honestly, he wasn't in the mood to drag two hundred pounds out of the lab again. And he was deeply emmersed in what he managed to gather from Edward, not even thinking of the consequences.
