Summary: As an apology for all of the mess associated with the redecorating last week, the Red Queen has organized a party for everyone in Wonderland, and invited
The Story:

The ballroom's high, arching ceilings seem to reach up at least two stories above your head, despite the fact that there are definitely second and third story rooms above this spot. High, wide windows let in sunlight during the day; at night, chandeliers and wall sconces light up with so many candles, it's hard to believe the light isn't from an electric source.

In preparation for the incoming guests, the ballroom has been decorated in light, pastel colors. There are many streamers and balloons, and garlands made with fresh flowers that will not wither for the entire four-day duration of the party. Confetti floats through the air now and then, but upon closer inspection it is not paper, but flower petals. There is a long table set up towards the back with beautiful flower arrangements and more food and drink than anyone could imagine, including an abundance of cake, tea, and alcohol of various kinds.

There are smaller tables to the side if you would like to sit and talk or eat, but there is a great space open as well for mingling and dancing. Various kinds of music will be played throughout the weekend, though there does not seem to be any particular source - no stereo system or DJ booth to be seen.

But most importantly, the party will cater itself to what makes you, the guest, most comfortable. This is your night and you are guests of Wonderland. There's no need to worry or fear. The mansion will take care of you so long as you are in its walls.

(And perhaps, when the party is over, you won't want to leave at all.)

I don't know if he is, so I'm only speculating and questioning it.

You really have this way of avoiding any and all conversation about yourself.

[Souji rubs the back of his neck, looking off to the side.]

Is that bad?

[panatipata]

Not all the time, just when the conversation is about you. Don't think I don't know what you're doing.

[Of course he knew. He understood the real Minato after all.]

What do you want me to call you?

[panatipata]

Me?

[Minato wondered why anyone had to ask him that. That was the second or so time that someone had asked him. He could say anything he desired about what he wanted to be called, but whether someone went along with it was not up to him.]

Do we really have to distinguish ourselves by name? Lots of people have the same name, but it's who they are apart from that name that leaves a mark on the world.

... But you wouldn't have any particular objections with calling me 'Minato,' would you?

No.

[Souji pauses, thinking.]

...How else would we distinguish ourselves?

[panatipata]

[Minato uselessly brushed his bangs away from his eyes.]

You would know me for me, no matter who I looked like or what name I had you call me, wouldn't you?

Even if you called me by my name, you would know that I'm not that one on the other side too.

You're right. But I'm showing you respect when I use your name instead of anything else.

[panatipata]

[Respect? Minato wasn't sure if was being mocked or not.]

Hn, when that name leaves your mouth, are you going to think about him in the same breath?

Not if you're the one standing in front of me.

[panatipata]

How kind of you.

[Minato smiled as he always did, mischievous and cunning. I took him a moment, but his expression melted away, softening into something melancholy and almost docile.]

... You can call me 'Minato.' That's my name, and I... I don't what you to call me anything else.

[eatsyourscience]

[Souji nods.]

You can call me Souji.

[The Mirror already knows his name, but this is an invitation to be familiar.]

[panatipata]

Souji.

[Minato tilted his head and liked the way the name rolled off of his tongue.]

... Are you seriously always this trusting of people?

[eatsyourscience]

Until they make it obvious that I shouldn't.

[panatipata]

So what do you think of me?

[Minato's eyebrows furrowed slightly out of confusion and something like desperation.]

[eatsyourscience]

I trust you.

[Pause.]

You need an Evoker, don't you? Do you want me to help you get one?

[panatipata]

[Minato wasn't so sure he would trust himself at this rate. He smiled at Souji.]

You know about that? I should've guessed.

[His holster was still empty, after all. He hadn't had the chance to get one. Yet. But his smirk did change back into something softer.]

... But why would you ever offer something like that? You know what I can do with one.

[eatsyourscience]

I trust you.

[panatipata]

[Really, how spineless he had pretended to be was all for show just to test him. But now Minato wondered how real any of that was.]

You say that to everyone you meet just so people can like you, is that it?

[eatsyourscience]

I don't usually have to say it.

[panatipata]

But why would you trust someone like me? I'm not like you. I can't just...

[Minato struggled to find the correct phrasing he wanted.]

I don't understand. This isn't how relationships are supposed to work.

[eatsyourscience]

I don't really know what you mean. Some people start out without trust and they gradually start to. Some people trust from the start and stop if they have to.
