Summary: It's your chance do your dance
The Story: After the culture festival wraps up on Wednesday afternoon, all students are invited to a dance in the gymnasium! There are snacks and drinks (non-alcoholic, of course!), as well as cheesy paper decorations made by the student council members.

[ there is nothing wrong with his dancing ok you're just jealous.

stiles doesn't even flinch when derek gets up in his space--he's used to the dude pushing him around, puts up with it, kind of enjoys it (and pushes him back) to be honest, and he just raises his eyebrows at him, still grinning. ] Sounds about right, yeah. Did your mom make you come, or what? Apparently that happened to half the people here. Something about their babies in blazers.

[ he does not think about his own mom--that would certainly ruin the mood. ]

[ Jealous of what, the lack of hand/eye coordination?

Angling his head a little to get a look down at himself-- and, subtly, Stiles-- he brings his hands up and smooths them down along the front of his own blazer, slate grey and properly fitted to his figure. He looks back up at him and shrugs his shoulders casually, hardly bothered by the teasing but not throwing it back at him. They're dicks to each other, but he wouldn't dare hit so low. Even at his angriest with Stiles. ]

No, figured I'd come watch everybody else make fools of themselves. Proves to be pretty entertaining, usually. Especially when the punch's spiked.

[ stiles grins like an absolute maniac at that one. ] What, punch? Spiked? Preposterous. What an absolutely scandalous act. Why, I can't even imagine....

[ and he's going to continue to ramble for a second. ]

[caillte]

[ Derek simply stands there as Stiles' tell-tale maniacal grin spreads across his face, and he raises his eyebrows slowly as he keeps going on and on about how the spike couldn't be punched, who would ever do such a thing, especially when there are children attending.

And then, rolling his eyes affectionately, he surges forward and kisses him quiet. It's a lingering thing, because he honestly doesn't care, but then he pulls back and licks his lips. ]

Tastes spiked to me.

[ well, don't mind stiles as he stands there like an absolute fucking moron as derek hale kisses him. his entire mental process shatters into a series of question marks and he just barely has enough time to get with it and kiss him back when derek's pulling away.


and then all he can really do is stare stupidly at him. ] Uh.

[ #nailed it ] iIII I mean. Innocent till proven guilty.

[ #continuing to nail it ]

[ There's no real questioning that he probably shouldn't have done that, but at the same time Derek figures that it felt right, so. It isn't really as wrong as some onlooker could think it is.

Besides, Stiles' face is hilarious, and so is his reaction. He kind of wants to do it again, just to see the gobsmacked look all over again. ]

"Uh." [ Smugly amused? Smugly amused. ] I'd say your dance moves prove it, but I know you always dance like that.

[ see, now, the smug face--that gives him something to react to. stiles basically prickles up like a hedgehog, and it'd be much more threatening if his cheeks weren't bright freakin' red. ]

Oh, yeah, because you're a real Travolta. What's the new dance move, the drink my drink and brood in the corner?

[ Ah, there we go. Exactly what Derek was waiting to have happen. He just raises his eyebrows again, smirk firmly intact as Stiles blushes and flusters and starts off on yet another tangent.

At first, he doesn't actually respond to him. But then he just shrugs, and holds his hand out to him. ]

I'll regret this, because you'll probably wind up putting me in a full-body cast, but you can find out.

[ stiles stares at his hand like it's got six fingers, gawping with his mouth wide open. he was kind of expecting an argument--hello, derek hale here--and yet this was happening.

maybe he did spike the punch.

either way, stiles stilinski is not one to turn down a challenge, and he narrows his eyes as he puts his hand in his. (this is not a challenge, stiles, this is actually probably romantic intent.) ] Happy to.

[ Why can't it be both? Because, seriously. It's Derek Hale and REDACTED Stilinski. There can be a challenge and romantic intent behind it, absolutely.

That's basically their real world relationship in a nutshell, too. This'll be amusing in hindsight to Derek. ]

You look absolutely thrilled. [ Tone dry, he still pulls him closer. ]

You did just say I'd put you in a full body cast. [ he snipes that right back but stiles doesn't even fight the way he gets pulled closer. he definitely doesn't drape an arm over his shoulder, either. ]

Also, I repeat. Brooding, drinks. [ airquote over his shoulder ] "Dancing".

You'd think I'd be the one making that face, then. [ There is definitely no further physical contact between the two of them whatsoever, not at all. Derek doesn't let his shoulders relax under the weight of Stiles' arm, and he doesn't shift to move an arm around him. ]

At least I know how to dance. Your flailing limbs don't qualify as dance moves. [ This might be an alternate universe, but don't test him, Stiles. Talia Hale put her children through some grueling lessons before her death. ]

I don't think your facial muscles are capable of it. [ he smiles, then, but it's all playful--there's a twinkle of meanness in his eyes, but their relationship has always been that way, a constant push and pull. ] They're about the only ones you don't give a workout.

[ and stiles definitely does not sway with him, now does he. who would do that? he sure doesn't lean in a little closer, either. ] Better than the sit and brood.

[ Immediately, he rolls his eyes in response to the jab, offering him the driest look in his arsenal. But there's no real offense taken, despite that spark he so clearly sees there, because he does the same damn thing to Stiles pretty frequently and with very little guilt. Push and pull, immovable object and unstoppable force. (Guilt only comes with sharp and biting words, that are meant to hurt, even when he doesn't think about what he says before he says it.) ]

I haven't even tried to sit and brood. That's been all Cora, tonight. [ Much as he loves his sister, he also loves to tease her. But it helps to distract from their proximity, which he does not facilitate by hooking his arm a little more securely around him. He also does not sway along with him, because that would be ridiculous. ]
