Summary: It's your chance do your dance
The Story: After the culture festival wraps up on Wednesday afternoon, all students are invited to a dance in the gymnasium! There are snacks and drinks (non-alcoholic, of course!), as well as cheesy paper decorations made by the student council members.

[Fun is pretty much how he rolls, no matter how stupid he looks. He couldn't give a shit less... Though whether that's a natural quality or because of the punch and the other crap he'd gotten into earlier is anybody's guess.

Regardless, yeah, he can out here to have a good time, and so that's what he's gonna do. Grinning, he moves to dip Bela low like they're in some cheesy black and white movie.

Seriously, he just needs as rose in his mouth to complete the whole damn thing.]

[Once she realises what he was doing, Bela holds onto his shoulders tightly and giggles as Jesse dips her, unable to contain herself.

It's a kind of romantic, silly gesture and she wonders if Jesse has ever done it before. Or maybe he was just winging the whole thing.

In any case, it didn't really matter to Bela much. They were both at this dance to enjoy themselves, regardless of what anyone else said or did.]

[cowhouse]

[Oh man, that giggle sustains him; Jesse is more than a little pleased that she seems to be enjoying herself. Apparently the amount of time he's spent stoned and watching stupid old movies has paid off.

Pulling her up, Jesse offers Bela a grin. Nope, could not have planned this better himself.]

Next stop, Dancing With The Stars.

[Or So You Think You Can Dance- he likes that one better.]

[She was still holding onto his shoulders when he pulls her up to her feet again. Bela was smiling from ear to ear.]

Don't think I've seen that show.

[One of her hands move from Jesse's shoulder to his cheek, her smile growing softer. She isn't quite sure why she did it, but Bela thought it felt right somehow.]

[cowhouse]

[His cheek, huh? You mean the one that's turning a healthy shade of pink under her hand...?]

Seriously? That's a first, I thought everyone watched trashy tv... It's not like high art or whatever but it's entertaining.

[And the chicks are hot.

...What? Don't judge.]

[Yep, she's amazing like that. Her thumb brushes gently across his cheekbone.]

I'm not everyone. But I don't watch much television in the first place so I suppose that wouldn't help.

[As long as he didn't judge her for not watching trashy shows.]

Don't hold it against me.

[cowhouse]

[He laughs.]

I'll let you off the hook I guess, just this once.

[A slower song starts playing, and while ten minuets ago he'd have bitched to kingdom come about it being, like, the lamest shit ever, he's pretty thrilled about it now. It gives him an excuse to let his hand settle at Bela's waist, to not pull away from the press of her hand.

So, so lame... But he's okay with that, for now. She's not complaining, and so neither is he.

He does offer her an almost shy smile, though.]

...You're gonna have to lead, I got no idea how this slow crap goes.

[UNCULTURED SWINEEEEEE.]

[It just so happened that Bela had some practice when it came to slow dancing and did not find it lame. She's glad that Jesse doesn't move away from her, smiling when his hand rested on her waist.]

You've never slow danced before? [Her question is asked with a slight raise of her brow as her other hand is placed on his shoulder. When he's good and ready Bela will take his other hand with her free one.]

It's really not that complicated. You just sway and move to the music. I'll need your other hand though.

[Okay, so maybe Bela will prompt him a little.]

[cowhouse]

[Bela Talbot, forever injecting a little class into Jesse's life.]

'Kay--

[He gives Bela his hand obediently, letting himself be nudged into whatever position he's supposed to be in. No, really, he has no fucking clue how to dance for real.]

And now we just kinda...

[He trails off. HE'S TRYING TO PAY ACTUAL ATTENTION, really.]

Go with the music.

[She places his hand on the other side of her waist and then rests her free hand on his shoulder, moving in close to him. Then Bela begins to sway, leading Jesse in the dance.]

See? Nice and easy. No complications.

[Her smile grows as the dance goes on.]

[cowhouse]

Right-- [And there he goes. ...Going. With the music, wow this is weird.

...Not bad weird, though. Nice weird.]

It's not so bad. Where'd you learn, anyway? I know we don't have like ballroom dancing classes or whatever here.

[Or if they do, he'd blocked them out of his mind in favor of much more worthwhile pursuits like drawing half naked women on the bike shed walls and smoking behind the gym.]

I watch films, practice with my friends. Never had a formal lesson but I'm a fast learner.

[It wasn't long until her hands moved a little down Jesse's back, resting her head gently against his. There's a smile on Bela's face the whole time, even if he couldn't see it.]

How do you normally spend your free time?

[cowhouse]

Coulda fooled me, yo.

[Yeah, okay, her hair brushing against his cheek when she leans her head into his... Is pretty awesome.

She smells nice, too...]

And uh... You know, the usual. Like, uh. Reading. I read all the time.

[Jesse please..........]

I'm gifted.

[Bela laughs softly. God, he was cute. Even if he wasn't usually her type.]

Yeah? Who's your favourite author? Favourite book?

[She'd apologise for the third degree but she was interested in knowing the answers to the questions, wondering if they had any favourite authors or books in common.]

[cowhouse]

Uhhhhhhhh....

[And here he'll rattle off a few comic book authors whose arcs he'd been totally into.]

They're, uh... They're comics.

[HE IS NOT BLUSHING. Don't judge him, Bela- there's literary worth to be found in superhero stories!]

Comics.

[She considers his reply for a few moments, looking thoughtful. As thoughtful as one could when they were caught up in a slow dance.]

I've only ever read the comic strips that are found in the back of newspapers. After I had read the newspaper itself.

[Please don't judge her either for keeping well informed of current events.]

As for books, I really like The Secret Garden.

[cowhouse]

...I'm gonna be honest- the last time I looked at a newspaper it was to copy people's faces with silly putty and stretch 'em out all weird.

[...SO NO JUDGEMENT HERE.

There's an eyebrow raise, though.]

And I've never... Wait, didn't they make that into a movie? Like, uh... Animated?

They did make into a film but it wasn't animated. Live action.

[Her words are mostly murmured against the side of his head before she pulls back slightly to look at him, watching his face for a moment.]
