Karaoke Lounge (2-3)
Who: Class 2-3 & YOU!
Where: The Karaoke Room
When: July 15th - July 16th, 2014
Rating: PG-13 to be safe
Summary: Class 2-3 has decided to create an awesome karaoke lounge for their class project!
The Story:

Karaoke Sample Song List
Presented by 2-3, this chic and semi-intimate karaoke lounge is heralded as the perfect get-away for those students and visitors looking to burn a little energy dancing and singing. Despite how it might first appear, the room boasts a deceptively large space, plenty of seating, and basic refreshments.
Nearest the stage is a sign-up list for those looking to sing. The music database is massive, so pretty much any song is offered (however, there are signs warning against selections that may not be appropriate for all audiences, even if no one will be closely monitoring).
[[ OOC: Prose or action spam is totally fine. Start your own headers, link your own songs, dance around in all the threads, and have a great time!
P.S. Don't forget your content warnings where necessary!
P.P.S. Hopefully this is okay with everyone in class 2-3. Please PM me here if you need me to add/change/remove something/etc.]]

Angel | OTA
The result, however, is the same, no matter how it happened: he's willing to step up and take a bullet to get things rolling.
He moves stiffly as he makes his way to the prompter, holding onto the microphone just a little too tightly as undeniably dated strains of synthesized music start pouring out of the speakers.
What is about to take place is quite possibly one of the most awkward performances ever witnessed.
I'd drive a million miles to be with you tonight,
So if you're feeling low, turn up your radio,
The words we use are strong, they make reality,
But now the music's on, oh baby d-dance with me-
He manages to fumble over half the lyrics, getting tongue-tied as he struggles his way through both off-key and off-beat, accompanied by stiff and sudden movements that are not so much dancing as they are anxious shuffling, but as the song goes on, he starts to commit. He dedicates himself.
And it is truly terrible.
Rip it up, move down,
Rip it up, move it down to the ground,
Rip it up, cool down,
Rip it up, don't hang it on the borderline
Everybody have fun tonight,
Everybody have fun tonight,
Everybody Wang Chung tonight,
Everybody have fun tonight--
It's a very painful four minutes for anyone who manages to sit through the entire thing, but once the music finally stops, he manages to stand there for another five seconds or so without moving -- then finally fumbles with the microphone enough to get it back into its stand, though not without dropping it once, looking only mildly remorseful as he makes his way to one of nearest seats.
As icebreakers go, there are probably worse. Maybe.

"Luckily others will follow your lead now." He calls at him when he comes down, grinning.
no subject
Otherwise he might be forced to take the stage again.
"Here's hoping," he agrees, managing a grin. "What good's a karaoke lounge where nobody wants to sing, right?"
no subject
no subject
A decent voice? Anyone else might have turned that back on Frank and accused him of being deaf, but it just gives Angel another boost of confidence -- one that could be dangerous if nobody else steps up to the mic anytime soon.
"You should try. It was more fun than I thought it would be. You might surprise yourself."
no subject
And sorry, everyone else.
"I get nervous if people are looking at me, I'd end up tripping over everything and ruining the day."
no subject
"A lot of people get stage fright." Himself included, until a few minutes earlier -- his sense of duty had won out over apprehension in a big way. "I did some tripping myself, but I guess we do need people down here running the lounge. You think we should advertise more? See if we can get more people in here who aren't from our class?"
Of course, people passing through the exhibits would come this way naturally anyway, but he's anxious for them to do well -- they'd worked hard on the place, after all.

It...it isn't the most polished singing she's ever heard before (to put it politely), but he's trying very hard and clearly doing his best, and that's what matters in the end. When he finishes, she applauds, making a whole two people unironically clapping so far.
Once he makes his way back to the audience, she makes her way over to him and sits by his side.
"Hi, Angel!" she says, smiling bright as always. "You did really well!"
no subject
"Yeah? You think so?" He grins, nudging her with his elbow. "You should go up and sing. I bet you're great."
no subject
"O-Oh no! I'm not, I mean...I couldn't possibly!" she says, as her face quickly grows red. "I...I'm not very much of a, um. Performer..."
no subject
"We could sing something together. It could be fun. I'd be with you, so you wouldn't be embarrassed. People would be paying attention to the both of us, not singling you out."
no subject
She still sounds kind of unsure, but he's going out of his way to encourage her to sing with him, and he wouldn't do that if he thought it was going to horribly embarrass her.
"...Okay then," She finally decides. "I'll sing something with you. It really could be fun, I think!"
no subject
Natasha's perched in the back of the room where she'd been helping to double-check and organize their music selection, with the hope that maybe with that accomplished she could slip away before the singing started, but no. Fate hated her today. As it was, she's stuck here resisting the urge to bang her head against the table through all four minutes of his captivating performance.
Suddenly catching the plague was sounding more appealing every minute, although Natasha's not mean enough to let any of her thoughts show on her face.
Much.Besides, it's not Angel personally, it's the karaoke in general.no subject
Maybe trying to rouse her school spirit will do her some good. Or maybe it's just an excuse to talk to her.
His hands are deep in his pockets as he makes his way over, shoulders hunched forward as they often are, offering her a careful smile. "You're not going to sing? Lead by example?"
no subject
"What can I say? You're already doing so brilliantly at that whole leader thing. I can't top that. Don't think I'm cut out for it. I'll sit back here and organize instead."
And still stay as far away from the stage as she can manage.
no subject
"I don't know if I'd say leader--"
She thought he was doing a good job with leadership? Sincere or otherwise, something about that makes him feel just a little swell of pride.
"Well, that's good of you. I mean, organization's important, too -- we need someone taking care of that." But-- "Maybe just one song later on? I'd love-- I mean, everyone would love to hear you give it a shot, I bet."
Smooth.
no subject
Still not buying it, however.
"I think everyone's ears will be plenty occupied with the list of students we already have lining up. I really don't think they'll miss me. Besides, the whole center stage thing is more Rachel's deal, not mine."

Re: Angel | OTA
Nope, she doesn't even let him sit down. Intercepting part way through, Ruby hooks her arm through his and starts leading him back to the stage.
"Not so fast, hot stuff. I think I'm hearing demand for an encore."
no subject
Oh. Oh, hi, Ruby.
"I don't hear anything--" It takes him half a moment to realize she doesn't mean that literally, and for the first time since he walked into the lounge, he has the good sense to look embarrassed, though it doesn't last. "You want me to sing again?"
no subject
"Indulge me, yeah?" Ruby steps up onto the stage and finally lets him go. "Or are you getting a bit of post-performance jitters?"
no subject
"Indulge-- sure. Okay." He makes an effort to not sound entirely bewildered, and, to his pride, he's mostly successful. "I just didn't think-- I mean, we should let other people take a turn, right?"
Except at the moment, there's nobody else lined up to try their hand, leaving the two of them to take the stage, should they so desire.
no subject
"And loose a chance to hear your silver pipes again? Nah, I'm doing them a favor." Still, she manages to send him a playful grin despite herself and knocks her hip against his before she turns her attention back to the screen. Oh yes, that looks good.
"Ready, Donny?"

I AM LATER THAN LATE
"So is karoke your thing?" She asks with a teasing look. His fumbling with the lyrics had been pretty funny, but she wasn't laughing at him. It looked like fun. "Wanna do a duet or something? We can go all 'We Built This City' in here."
no subject
Not that it had been a particularly great example; it had been awkward and fumbling and he was fully aware of it, but he was proud all the same. Making it through from beginning to end was a hell of a lot better than he thought he'd do. He looks pleasantly surprised at her offer, even cracking a smile at the song she'd suggested. Not bad.
"Duet? You sing?"
no subject
"I'm thinking something a little more fun, though. How do you feel - " And she pauses dramatically, leaning forward with a serious look on her face. " - about the Spice Girls?"
