Summary:
For the duration of this event each character will discover that their room has been replaced with one of their own memories, one that they find themselves particularly happy or "at home" in. More information can be found here.

This log is an opportunity for your characters to describe the memory playing in their room, so that other characters might visit, and watch the scene unfold. apologies for the delay, I've been traveling in the USA

"Yeah. Really unusual." She offers her a warm smile. "Its lovely by the way. The beach, I mean. I haven't seen a beach in a while so this is a new experience for me." Vega wasn't really known for its beaches and the war between humanity and the angels didn't let itself to venturing outside a lot. Claire's father had put more emphasis on protecting her instead of anything else.

"I'm Claire by the way. Claire Riesen. Its nice to meet you."

She might as well introduce herself, especially after coming across a private memory.

Tohru mirrors that warmth right back at her.

"It's nice to meet you too!" she says, with a bright smile. "My name is Tohru Honda."

It's always nice to meet new people, and people come and go from Wonderland often enough that there's always new faces around. She turns and looks out at the ocean.

"Um, thank you?" Is that something she should really accept thanks for? It's a memory after all, not something she's done or created. "The beach house over there belongs to some friends of mine, and they invited me to come with them once. ...That's what this place is."

"Hi, Tohru." The warm smile is still present when she says her name; Claire didn't know a lot of people in Wonderland so the more of them she talked to and got to know, the better.

She looks over in the direction of the beach house, then back at Tohru. "Ah, I see. You must have had a lot of fun with them when you stayed. It looks so relaxing to me from where I'm standing."

"Did you have a picnic or anything?

[breakthecurse]

"I did! We had a really good time together..."

Her smile doesn't falter, but she can't help feeling pangs of homesickness. She's been in Wonderland so long now that it's been ages since she's been with the Sohma family...but, she wouldn't want to burden Claire with that, or anyone for that matter.

"We didn't have a full picnic, but we broke open some watermelons together!" she says. "It was a lot of fun. I hadn't done that since I was little, with my mom."

She is happy, but all of these memories are tainted with melancholy, and a longing for people she misses, whether it's because they've passed away or because Wonderland has separated her from them.

The homesick feeling is something that Claire has experienced in Wonderland and for some reason or another, she felt it now. It was strange because she wasn't really thinking about Vega or anyone back home, she was more focused on Tohru and what she had to say.

"That does sound like a lot of fun to do. Never done it before myself but my mom and I did a lot of things when I was growing up." Her expression grows a little wistful and sad when she talks about her mother. Tohru didn't need to know the truth.

"Who is that in your memory?"

That wistful sadness transfers to Tohru too, but she doesn't see anything odd in it. She does tend to feel that way when she thinks about her mother, even if there's usually nostalgia to it as well. She doesn't well on it though, and instead looks back the boy in her memory.

"This is my friend Kyo," she says. "At home, I had been living with him and his cousins."

She is very fond of him, though that fondness is twinged with something else under the surface, feelings that Tohru herself refuses to acknowledge, even if they're there. It's more than platonic fondness. It's a crush, not that she will ever admit it to herself.

"Kyo?" Claire repeats, sounding it out. "That's a nice name, but it isn't one I've heard of before." She wasn't entirely sure of where the boy might be from but if Tohru wanted to share, she would listen.

The feeling of fondness is something that Claire can sense within herself, though she wasn't sure where it was coming from. Then there was another feeling that she couldn't explain.

"How long have you been living with them?"

"Ah, it's a little confusing with Wonderland time but...it had been almost two years, before I was brought here," Tohru says.

It's odd to think about - she's lived with them two years, but it's been almost two years since then. It doesn't seem right to say it's been four years, but it also doesn't seem right to say she isn't living with them anymore either. She does seem to sense Claire's confusion though and elaborates a little.

"We're from Japan," she adds. "I haven't met very many people here who are, so it probably seems a little unusual. Where are you from?"

Claire nods in understanding. "Wonderland can be confusing like that." She hasn't been in Wonderland as long as Tohru, not even close to it, but she has an idea of the kind of crap it can pull.

"A place called Vega. In North America." Most of humanity had been wiped out and all communications with other countries had been lost during the Extermination War. Thankfully, Claire had grown up in safety behind Vega's walls but with everything that had happened recently back home, she wasn't sure how safe it was anymore.

That was irrelevant now.

"Unfortunately, I've never been to Japan before. I'm sure it's amazing though."

"I've never been to Vega either," she says. Then, she gets a thoughtful look. "Actually...I'm not sure I've even heard of Vega before now. But, I'm sure it's a very nice place."

As she says it though, she realizes that she's actually not very sure of that. She has a bad feeling about it, that maybe it isn't a very safe place after all. ...But, that would be rude to say to someone who grew up there, especially since she has nothing real to base that assumption on.

"The only people who know of Vega are those who are from it. So don't worry." Claire assures her with a warm smile. "Vega is a nice place, but my world isn't always so nice."

She hesitates, unwilling to tell Tohru the truth about where she was from, the things that happened. Some of them were horrible and not worth repeating.

"It's a long story."

Tohru nods, but she feels...well, she isn't sure. Claire says it's nice, but there seems to be something else there was well, something Tohru can't quite place.

"...I don't want to pry," she says, gently. "But, if you'd like to talk about it, you're more than welcome to. I wouldn't mind listening, if you need someone to."

"You are very sweet to offer, Tohru." She's genuinely grateful for her concern and it reads in Claire's tone, but it would take some time before she would feel all right enough to discuss her world.

"Maybe not today though. I wouldn't want to ruin this nice memory of yours."
