"Why don't you ask him?" Crowley shrugs. It's not his job to justify any of this to Castiel. The fact of the matter is that he's sick of defending himself. They're always backing him into corners and there's only so much energy he can devote to pushing them off. Castiel was the most stubborn of them all, too. He could piss off.

"I'm done playing the exposition fairy for you. You want something from me, ask nicely. Otherwise, get out."

He starts to walk away, back into the center of the bar scene where Dean is playing foosball and people are cheering for the both of them.

It's not as if Castiel can ask Dean much of anything, given that he's from even further back in time. They both only know the details that Sam and Crowley have given them, which means that Castiel's always in a state of feeling that he doesn't know enough.

Frustration remains the reigning emotion as he watches Crowley stalk off. Ask nicely, he says, as if manners will change anything. Castiel's never seen much need for them.

It would be easier to discuss this with Sam than Crowley, that much is obvious, but Castiel takes a moment to draw closer to the Dean from Crowley's memory, as if studying him closely enough will help this all make some more sense.

"Something to do with the Mark," he murmurs, mainly to himself.
