Beatrice turns to look towards the direction of the sound, frowning just slightly. It's just a memory--not even hers--but part of her half expects to just...turn back into a bluebird. Like it's too good to last, even if she's been this way a little while now.

There's no use dwelling, so when she turns back, the smirk is back on her face. Yeah, nothing can get her down right now, really. Not even birds.

"Ooooh I don't know, I could probably think something up."

The Once-ler laughs a little and crosses his arms.

"Go ahead then," he says. "Give me one good reason to not accept a human-sized sweater. C'mon. I'm waiting."

It's a playful challenge, and only half-hearted - even if she does come up with something, she'll probably wind up with a new sweater either way.

Beatrice taps her chin.

"Well, it's getting close to being spring, right? Who needs sweaters once winters over, seriously."

Take that! Though really, she definitely wants a sweater, and the fact she can't really keep up a callous demeanor is proof enough of that.

He laughs, already prepared to shoot her down.

"Please. They're perfect for when it's too warm for a big jacket but it's still kind of chilly out," he says, "like on a cool spring night. Pretty sure everyone still needs sweaters after winter."

Or at least he does. They're warm and cuddly and he's certain he could find an excuse to wear one in the heat of summer if he wanted to - or at least, he could and has sold it to others as a good idea.

Beatrice sighs, shrugs and rolls her eyes all dramatic-like. It's all for show, because being a little punk is fun, even when your not a bluebird. Her joking around doesn't quite have the same edge as before--she's much too pleased with her recent change to actually be mean--but her sass is definitely still there.

"Fine, I guess they are pretty useful in spring."

She shakes her head in defeat, but she can't not crack a smile.

He smiles in return, holding on to that good mood as long as he can. He's pretty sure that if they had met under different circumstances, the Once-ler would have just written her off as some bratty kid and never given her a second thought, but it's kind of hard not to like her. In a weird way he appreciates all her sass, and he gets what it's like to make a huge, seemingly irreversible mistake.

"Then I guess I'll make you one then," he says, matching her tone. "Once the event's over, anyway. Definitely way too nice a day in here to sit around knitting."

He says it like that same sunny day isn't going to be on loop for the entire event, but...he's missed it a lot. Fresh air that's (kind of) from home, trees...it's even more fantastic than he remembers.
