That's what they say. Nothing angelic about it, if you ask me.

[Even considering the irony of him naming himself the city's protector, in a manner of speaking. LA might not have a hellmouth beneath it, but there's still evil at the heart of it. Wolfram & Hart's roots run deep, and while LA is only one of their power centers, they still control a hell of a lot.]

You know, most people wouldn't agree with me. They'd say that fighting without any kind of end or reward in sight isn't worth the effort.

[He looks to her, his face carefully neutral as he takes a moment to study hers.]

You're different.

[ Charlie's only been around LA a couple of times, but prefers the mid-west to anything. Probably since it's closer to home. ]

If everyone took that attitude, then we wouldn't have had any progress at all. It's always an uphill battle, it just comes with the territory. [ Fighting any good fight seems that way. At his statement, she glances over at him, just a little puzzled. ] What kind of different?

[He smiles, just a little, one side of his mouth hitching upwards.]

You see the bigger picture.

[That's a rare thing, in his experience.]

Most people don't. They think if you're not being rewarded-- that something's not worth doing. But not you.
