THE BEGINNING

Final checks and balances are happening and the lab is alive with energy. The scene set before anyone that may be present makes it obvious they're getting amped up and ready to go ahead with their plans. Buzzes, beeps and whirs of machinces, muttered comments by the present scientists as they check things off. There isn't much left to do and no time left to waste.

With all of the edits and tweaks finalized--including the notes Cisco had gotten from his mirror friend, which he'd told no one about--they're set up to do their big rounds of testing today. Despite the fact that it feels like he's done this a thousand times, Cisco has a good feeling about this. Things have been building all week and it's almost like he can feel it in his bones-- it's going to work. He just has to have enough faith in himself, in his abilities, in everything they've worked on. Because that's absolutely how this worked, faith, trust and pixie-- wait.

"Ready?" He asks, casting a glance at his partner-in-science, waiting for the signal for the go-ahead to try this again.

Said partner-in-science is bent over the desk, staring at a series of monitors stacked together, each determining a different set of data. It's tense and dangerous. He expects it to fail. The difficulty is making sure that it fails safely.

"Think smallscale. We just want to make sure it works, and reach a failure point if it doesn't. If you feel faint, stop. All right?"

But he'll give the signal nonetheless, finally powering on the towering doorway beside them.

Cisco isn't expecting a lot himself. Every other attempt he's made has gone to zilch, nada, nothing. But he doesn't just want this to work, he needs it to. He has to save Caitlin before he can even pretend he can do anything else. And that, more than anything else, is really where his mind is focused.

He nods a little and turns away from his friend, his minding wandering for the shortest moment in a note to self to remember to give Maya the sonar gun he'd finally finished for her. Casting the thought aside, he lifts his hand and channels the energy he can literally feel both in the air and within himself. He focuses on pushing that energy out, and creating a portal, filling the lab with a soft blue glow that's become a weirdly familiar staple in the room over recent weeks. He directs that energy at the doorway, meant to amplify and stabilize his powers.

The portal is held, just inside the doorway, blue and white light almost rippling in what had been an empty space. It's containing it, like they'd wanted, and Cisco has to take a moment to admire the fact that this much has worked already. "Whoa...this is mad freaky, dude."

With every attempt before failing, despite his hopes, some part of Cisco had kind of assumed that there was no way in hell this was going to work. The portal would send him to the roof or he'd land in the lake, find himself standing in the kitchen. That's always what happened. No matter what his intended target space was, he ended up rerouted to somewhere else in Wonderland. But perhaps it worked this time because his destination was still technically a part of Wonderland. In his own secret side-mission in all of this, Cisco had been working toward getting to the Mirror Side to save Caitlin. His stomach clenches at the thought of her, of what she must have been put through here for months now.

"Somebody here?" He calls out cautiously, glancing around, uncertain of exactly what to expect.

What's here is... Not much, really. It's a lab. A drab, gray space that doesn't have much to it. But there is a figure within, standing tall and still in a well-tailored suit. Visibly, the situation is the same. He's in a lab, with a Fitz. He regards Cisco coldly, nodding once.

"Everyone's here who needs to be. I told you I'd make the transition easy for you, didn't I?"

He tilts his head and frowns a little at the, well, mirror image of his friend. Which is not what he'd expected. "You're-- the one I've been talking to? Why didn't you--" He stops himself and shakes his head, "Nevermind, it doesn't matter. Where's Caitlin?"

On the fourth day (Monday morning)

The charade is over. The Queen has made her decree, and the hunt for errant mirrors is afoot on the real side. The queen neglected to tell them who they were searching for, though. It's chaos. And it's beautiful. Dr. Fitz is thoroughly secure in his own safety, of course. There's no reason to imagine that he might have something to do with all that disobedience. He wouldn't dream of going to the other side.

Not when there are games to play here.

He's taking a turn with the real thing, who's been leached in a low space to keep it from getting off its knees. This morning, he's brought along a handmirror. The thing is sleeping when he arrives, the troublesome little mammal. He kicks it in the side until it stirs.

"Get up. I've got something to show you."

It's been days now, was it three or four? Hard to tell. The room is empty and barren and there's not exactly a ton of light. Sleep is the only real reprieve he has from the tortures the mirrors have been putting him through. Not that the sleep is really all that restful.

Especially not when he's kicked awake.

He winces and stares up at Dr. Fitz--he's gotten in trouble for being too familiar and ignoring titles like they were only decoration and not something to be used. "What is it?" He sees the mirror in his hand, and he can't imagine that it could be good.

"You seemed homesick, Pet." The term of endearment is functional only. Names belong to mirrors and them alone. Real things don't appreciate them. They don't deserve to keep them. "It seemed only fair that we provide a chance for you to connect with the other animals in your kennel. You're homesick, aren't you?"

He holds out the mirror for a moment, but will yank it away as soon as Cisco shows signs of reaching for it.

"What do we say?"

NOTE for day 1 of this: He's watched and stalked the shit out of his Mirror. He's dressed identically when he shows up, so there's no weird sudden change in his clothes, he isn't decked out in his usual guyliner and leather. just FYI.]

Cisco feels like he has waited for this moment for ages. After all of Dr. Fitz's pushes and nudges in the right direction, he knows today is finally the day. This is absolutely happening and he's so ready. In fact, he's so prepared that he's even taken to the closets to double his doppelganger's ridiculous choice of outfit. His Real has such awful taste, it's kind of pathetic. Oh, well. He'll deal with it while he has his fun.

Despite the not-so-usual way it happened, when his Real stepped through the portal and landed mirror-side, it forced him out to the Real Side, as well. Landing right in the lab where his Real had been moments ago. He has it in himself to look vaguely disoriented, a little confused. "I don't think it worked."

When Cisco returns moments after leaving, Fitz nods, his mouth set in a line.

"Well we knew it had a large margin of error. Are you sure about the last round of revised variables? There really wasn't anything off about what we'd been using before."

"I dunno, I just-- I thought maybe if we tried something different..." He shakes his head, looking vaguely disappointed in himself. "I guess that's what I get for thinking." he mumbles and it actually kind of physically pains him to fake this low of a level of confidence. It's gross, how can he not trust himself more?! He could be a God.

Well, so much for our testing. [He huffs, an annoyed little sound and purses his lips.] Didn't quite work out like we'd anticipated.

Sorry about any disruptions we might have caused, but we did give you guys a heads up. [It's your own fault if you got caught in the chaos. Idiot Reals.]

Once the initial weirdness is out of the way and he can escape the physics lab, Cisco decides to make a beeline for one of his Real's besties. After all, it would be one of the best places to aim for to ruin his life, wouldn't it? Ah, this is going to be fun!

He doesn't find her at her room, so he makes his way to Caitlin's lab, poking his head in, "Hey." He waves his fingers in her direction before he walks over to grab a chair near her.

She's determined to get some work done today, noises from the lab down the hall be damned. Now that she's got a working pair of gauntlets to keep her powers at bay, Caitlin is able to focus on other things. To pick up the projects she's set aside for months now. It's nice to have something else to think about without the side helping of worry.

She sits at her station, eyes glued to the monitor. "Hey." She answers without looking up. Not until he moves into the room and gets near. Things have still felt a little tense since that day in the lab. But she smiles warmly, even as she self-consciously tugs on her gauntlets. "You're not helping Fitz in the lab?"

With his new-found freedom, Cisco's mirror is planning on enjoying the ride while it lasts. Of course, he knows it won't last forever, but he's got awhile either way. He knows the mansion like the back of his hand, this one isn't any different than the one he's always known.

He can be found pretty much anywhere in the mansion you can imagine, aside from his room or any of the labs. He's gonna enjoy the hell out of his freedom. Hot spots include the kitchen, Darcy's coffee shop, and the bar on the fifth floor. Basically, go nuts!

[Daisy looks up as her second cup of coffee is handed to her, thanking the person who brought it over before taking a sip. Her eyes drifted towards the door when she saw someone walk in. As Cisco walked past, Daisy spoke up:]

Hey. Been a while since I've seen you.

[They've texted each other but that's about it.]

Need a caffeine fix before heading back to the lab?

[Eobard so happens to be in the kitchen at the time "Cisco" enters, grabbing something with plenty of calories to keep himself charged. Soon as he catches sight of the man he makes a small exasperated look at him, but doesn't quite say anything yet. Eobard is miffed at being hung up on before, but he refuses to leave the kitchen just to make the other man feel comfortable.]

Cisco has been enjoying the little bit of freedom he's had since he ditched Fitz in the lab yesterday. For the most part, he's having fun, he's even already met up with his Real's least favorite person ever and come to an agreement to not out him. It was a weird favor, in the end, if you asked him, but a slightly sore jaw was worth his secret being kept.

On his list today is one Jesse Wells. She's adorable, really. Which is why this is going to be so much fun. He has to be cautious with her, though, she could catch on quicker than the average random, if not as quickly as Caitlin. She knows him, and she's smart, but he is sure he can keep her off his tracks.

He stops outside the door to her room, knocking and hoping she's around.

Everything is going to hell. This isn't how it was supposed to happen. It was supposed to be a quiet switch, he was supposed to have time, he was not expecting the Queen's involvement so soon, nor the manhunt that was issued. He hadn't expected the Mason twins to get the word out so quickly and well, quite honestly, his whole plan is falling apart and he isn't taking it too well.

He decides to take that anger out on his Real. Find ways to mess with him even once he's stuck on the other side of the glass again. The physics lab is in shambles and not open anymore, he can't risk going to Caitlin's lab at this point, so he opts for Jesse's. That's where his doppelganger's smaller toys and gadgets were being made, he'll just rig them and watch the show when it all explodes in his face-- literally in some cases, if he has anything to do about it.

He slips into the lab, unnoticed, and starts rummaging around on the desk to see what he can mess with.
