MOVIE NIGHT | dated to Tuesday afternoon

Charlie knows she was slacking off. Well, "moping" was more accurate: after Dean and Sam mysteriously vanished, she wasn't in much of a mood to do anything. After all, it seemed like even they couldn't do anything about whatever had kidnapped everyone. So she'd done what any reasonable nerd would do: gotten her closet to give her all the video games she never had time to play, and holed up in her room.

By the end of the week, at least, she was sick and tired of her self-imposed isolation (and Mass Effect, gasp), and with Dean's return? Well, it was something, at least. So she'd finally printed out flyers and obtained some Blurays, which was a little weird after all the downloading she did back home.

By the end of it, the ballroom had been decked out with a four foot tall HD flatscreen and a lot of comfy chairs. Charlie felt a little proud and sheepish all at once; this whole thing wasn't just for her, it was about building a sense of community, helping people relax. And boy, did everyone need that after riddles and monster rampages.


[So, we had a four-way tie, so we're going to do two things now and two next month! The rest of the things on the list will come along after that. That said, the winners are:

Alice in Wonderland and Iron Man! So basically it'll be more like Movie...Afternoon and Evening, starting at 2pm with the more kid-friendly movies (this labelling is questionable) and running to about 10. There will be lots of chairs/couches and a nice big screen, plus drinks and snacks on tables. And popcorn. Lots of popcorn. If you think your character would volunteer to help move chairs and stuff down, feel free to assume they did!]

Oh, only every terrible character from everything I've ever watched or read. But no, nothing in particular.

[She's not necessarily meaning to be negative or worried about this, her mind just goes and goes and there's too much thinking all the time, to the point where things like this are valid concerns that just won't go away.]

[It is a bit on the gloomy side, and Martha frowns over at Clara, but she still ends up nodding. Because it's something worth worrying about.]

Seeing how Lucifer is around, I can't exactly blame you for fretting about it. [Martha sighs and tries to focus on the film, but it's proving difficult. While Lucifer doesn't seem to have caused any trouble thus far, she knows that probably won't last. Then again, maybe Balthazar had worked something out, like he'd said he would try to do.]

Sorry, think I heard you wrong. Did you just say Lucifer is around? As in, actually real and here?

[She's a bit stunned at that. Really. She's wide eyed, eyebrows knit together, mouth formed in a tight line. Oh, this can't be good at all. What's even worse is she didn't already know that herself. She's not as good at figuring things out and knowing things as she thought.]

[Martha feels guilty after the fact for just dumping it on Clara like that, but that's how it had felt to her when she'd spoken with the devil. She's still in disbelief that it actually happened, but she's been trying to process it. Slowly.]

Sorry, but you didn't mishear anything. It's... honestly, I didn't even think angels were real -- you know, except for Weeping Angels, and that's different -- and then they start showing up all over here. Lucifer included. As you would expect, he's a total prat, but it seems like he hasn't caused too much trouble yet. [She doesn't know how long that's going to last, though.]

Angels I'm fine with. Angels protect people. [a pause, and then oh yeah, she remembers Lucifer's story. Every day that goes by here, she meets more and more interesting people. now she's just going to have to seek Lucifer out.]

Usually. But good, no trouble yet. Please tell me someone's watching him to make sure he's not stealing souls at night.

As far as I know, some of his... brothers are keeping an eye on him. I didn't want to get too involved because I already spoke with Lucifer once and worked at his nerves, and... well, I don't have a death wish.

[Martha tries to pick her battles carefully when she can. Lucifer's a bit above her pay grade, but at least there are other angels around to try and keep him in line. Balthazar told her that Lucifer was far stronger than him, but hopefully they've worked out something...]

[Clara is now feeling anxious and fidgety, and all hope of finishing the film is now lost. The thought of Lucifer here, even with his siblings attempting to control him, doesn't sit well with her at all.]

Sorry, Martha, this is going to be a bit rude but... [She reaches over to pat her friend on the arm as she hops up to stand.]

Don't think I'm in the film watching sort of mood anymore. Think I'm going to head to the library, see if there's any books on the devil.

[And how to trap him, control him, etc. etc.]

[Oh no. This is the last thing Martha had meant to do. She shouldn't have even mentioned anything. Now she's got Clara all worried and worked up and she's ruined the film for her.

Martha frowns, starting to stand as well.] I'm sorry, I... do you want some help with it, then? [Not that she has any clue if the library would be able to help with any of that, but it sounds like a worthy cause and it would seem wrong to just sit around and watch the rest of the film when Clara's heading off to do some actual work.]

[She smiles and nods, motioning with a sweep of her hand for Martha to follow.]

Oswald and Jones, researching the supernatural. We'll be sure to find something, between the two of us. C'mon.

[And then she's off at a brisk pace, leaving Martha to follow and keep up.]

[At this point Martha's relieved that Clara didn't refuse her. She can always try to get a hold of this film some other time, if she's that curious. But heading after Clara seems more important now.

She doesn't have much trouble catching up with her, and she sends her a smile as they head toward the stairs.]

An unstoppable team, I'd say. [She's only half-joking.]
