Summary: It's your chance do your dance
The Story: After the culture festival wraps up on Wednesday afternoon, all students are invited to a dance in the gymnasium! There are snacks and drinks (non-alcoholic, of course!), as well as cheesy paper decorations made by the student council members.

TEXT THREE: RETURN OF THE MESSAGE

Is that so? Hm. You took an awfully long time to answer for someone with such a simple answer. [The trickster smirked, spinning the cup on his finger until it inevitably fell and he had to catch it.]

Whoever they are, I'm sure they'll be here soon--[The cup fell and he looked up sharply, eyes catching sight of someone. Billy Kaplan and Teddy Altman dancing together in the crowd.] Look at that. Billy did 'get the girl'.

[He seemed far too pleased by this, and might have even relaxed visibly.] That means there's still luck for you yet, Banner. More juice?

[ though she is more confident than he, she truthfully does not have much more practical experience with it than he does. ever-so-gently, her hands squeeze his own. elizabeth nods her head, her smile taking on a hopeful note. ]

Yeah. Exactly like that. [ her features soften, because she is about to tease him a little. ] I would have asked you to the dance, if I'd been able to find you.

[ no, no. she won't be teasing him. just breathlessly waiting for his reply. ]

I'm not that kind of person. [Unless it benefited her.] Where did you even get that from in the first place?

[He grins.]

I didn't think you were. ...And I got my ways and means, you know. Connections and whatnot.

[That shall remain nameless.]

So you gonna have some or not?

[onsilksheets]

Which you aren't going to reveal of course.

[She rolls her eyes in a playful manner.]

Maybe. I haven't decided yet.

[cowhouse]

Of course not. Dude's gotta protect his sources, right?

It's pretty good. Like, it actually doesn't taste like crap.

[He's pretty excited about this, honestly, because sometimes you mix stuff that's supposed to be good and it turns into... Eugh. Honestly, most of the liquor he's had tastes like sour ass, but this coconut business...

Mad good.

To prove it, he's just gonna... Have himself some punch.]

As luck (good or bad) would have it, Captain Jack Harkness had been lurking about outside as well to say good night to a particularly lovely and willing to indulge in a few kisses lady. It's with a wide pleased-with-himself grin that Jack greets Will, his collar a little askew.

"You should sit down with your head between your knees. At least that's what the books say. I wouldn't faint our here if I were you. There was a gang putting someone in the dumpster over that way."

Or he could be lying so he could stay around and keep Will company.

[ Kevin is wearing a suit and tie, though everything seems a touch too big for him. He doesn't have a date, though that's not for lack of ability to procure one, thanks, so save all the nerd jokes. He's on his way back from the bathroom when he runs straight into his brother, whose tie is in worse shape than Kevin's, but -- honestly? -- only slightly. ]

Sorry. -- Where are you going?

I hate to see a lovely lady look so depressed.

[Despite his womanizing (and manizing) reputation, it was true enough that Jack hates to see anyone at a social event looking upset or hurt. Even if they have drying punch on them. His parents might be famous movie stars, but he's never been one to overlook someone at a party. One look at Becky had told Jack her story, and he'd ducked out quick to come back with a pink rose thieved from someone else's or from one of the vendors. It's this that he offers out to her.]

Captain Jack Harkness, at your service.

['Captain' of just what, no one quite knew. He could just be claiming the title to impress people.]

[Not with you kissing him like that. Come here, he wants to do it again. Only this time, as he kisses her lips he hooks something around her neck. A cross necklace, think of it as a 'I'm sorry I was such a dick' gift.]

[Sam winces when he bumps into- Kevin. Of course it had to be his brother.]

Nowhere. Outside. I need some air.

[Unlike him, Bela is dubious. She doesn't think that the flavours would taste nice together. Maybe he didn't even care and just wanted the effect of the alcohol instead.

She watches Jesse as he drinks some of the punch, wrinkling her nose a little. Still not convinced over here, nope.]

How does it taste then?

[dyskinesia]

[ For a moment, just as breathless for him, he only stares at her with admitted surprise, mouth opening but it's a few seconds before he even manages to say anything. ] ... oh.

[ So much for coherence, it seems. Or at least until Bruce remembers what words are, and with a joy too great for his smile to be contained, he continues. ]

Okay. [ That sounds inappropriately bland and as soon as he says it, he hurries to correct himself. ] I mean, yes! Yes, I'd love to.

[ He nods still, his fingers squeezing around her hands in return. Then swallowing down the knot in his throat, he answers to her earlier words in kind. ] Because I like you too.

Must've gotten distracted. [ Liar, terrible liar. But at least Loki doesn't press on the subject, so thank God for small favors.

Bruce looks up to see the pair dancing in the middle of the crowd, throwing a brief flat stare to the side at Loki's remark. Though to that he says nothing, and only nods when a refill's offered. ]

I'll come with you.

Me? With a date? Um, no, nope. You know me, flying solo is- totally my favorite thing in the world. To do.

[ nobody asked her. ]

Which just means I can dance with all the boys, amirite?

[ messing with him? messing with him. as always. ]

[Subtle and smooth. Fortunately for him, she was too busy still thinking of her brother's happiness to see through his attempts at subtlety.]

I almost wasn't going to come at all, but...well... [She had every intention of spying on them.]

Were there? He'd heard similar murmurings about the punch being spiked that have yet to pan out, but that may have been yet to come with the gym's capacity slowly filling.

In taking Bela to the dance he's also charged her with being his lookout, he realized early on. He could have shrugged and continued playing his very real apathy for the whole thing alongside anxiousness, but the sooner he proved he'd be be fine the sooner Bela could go on enjoying herself. Will winced slightly, a long moment spent finding the right balance between his real feelings and what would meet with Bela's approval.

"I'm not afraid to have fun," he said slowly, "I'm afraid of what fun will find me. Lots of people means lots of different definitions of fun, like... mooning TV cameras." That was Grease, Will.

[ He might have been watching. ]

Care to dance while you wait for them?

"Some guys think dancing and girls are pretty terrifying," he counters, looking as if he's not one of them. "Put them together and it just gets more so."

Yes, but maybe the wall isn't. Maybe it's feeling crowded. You should probably give it some space before it starts hyperventilating or something. And I could probably come up with a plausible excuse for your absence so its feelings aren't hurt.

[ Progress he'll take, and then happily go for more. ]

"I'm sure you've also seen girls wearing a lot less. Maybe I should mimic them too while I'm at it," she muses, tapping a finger thoughtfully against her chin.

Of course, then she's rolling her eyes. "Of course not. I know how to do my own threatening. Besides, do you honestly think I'd ever agree to come to this with someone I was worried about that with? I'm not stupid. Why are you out here hovering, anyway? Didn't you invite anyone to dance with?"

"My hero," she countered with an amused grin as she holds a hand out to him in invitation. "You do know how to dance, don't you?" That was very important information, after all.

[ She grins and waits till he takes her hand before tugging him back towards the dance floor. ]
