"This place has made you too soft, Thor." Well, that may not be entirely true, but it was just so strange to him that they were finally opening up to eachother.

"Even if they shunned you for thinking such, you would still insist it to be true?"

"Ah, it's a little confusing with Wonderland time but...it had been almost two years, before I was brought here," Tohru says.

It's odd to think about - she's lived with them two years, but it's been almost two years since then. It doesn't seem right to say it's been four years, but it also doesn't seem right to say she isn't living with them anymore either. She does seem to sense Claire's confusion though and elaborates a little.

"We're from Japan," she adds. "I haven't met very many people here who are, so it probably seems a little unusual. Where are you from?"

In contrast, Victor had had little opportunity to observe much outside of himself in all of this. In some ways it felt as though he'd traded the ability to feel his emotions in moderation for genius at some indeterminate time in adolescence, widening a gulf that had been ever present between himself and the rest of his family. He rubbed his forehead, bothered by his own mental exhaustion.

His own feelings were a burden, but twice the amount was twice as taxing--and twice as difficult to understand with Rebekah now standing in front of him. She was her own riddle, but more so today.

Why he didn't just send her away? He lacked the experience in this arena to answer either that question, or the one she posed to him. "I... I wouldn't know. Whoever heard of such a thing." It should be something to laugh at for the average person, but he wasn't average, and neither was she, and in the end Victor merely locked eyes with her in stark uncertainty.

I know, but it's weird to think about not remembering anything that happened here.

[ Charlie, for one, has never doubted this nugget of information. If people can be brought here against their will and become victims to crazy magic crap, then why not?

She's silent for a moment as she watches Bobby, wondering if he would have liked her if they ever met. ]

Not gonna lie, pretty excited about being able to actually get to Oz. After all this, it'll be a dream vaca.

We've all got our little selfish wishes, it's no big. It's only a bad thing when people are actively trying to make them come true regardless of other people.

[ Selfishness is inherent in everyone, and this kind of selfish want just seems incredibly human to her. Who doesn't want their family with them, especially family someone has such a complicated history with? ]

Not that there's some secret summoning ritual to bring people here, I'm sure we would have heard of that by now.

The fact that he's unable to do much about protecting his daughter from here has been a point of contention since his arrival. A part of him refuses to believe it, calling back to countless years he's been able to do the impossible. What's one more thing?

"We will." He gives a short nod at this, knowing that his family would do whatever it takes to keep her safe. However, their shortcomings may also lead to Hope's downfall, and he can't have that. There's nobody he trusts implicitly with his daughter's safety, other than himself, because Klaus knows he is willing to do whatever it takes.

None of this is said to Cami, however. It boils in the back of his mind, a black tar that never truly leaves him, no matter what changes he may have made to his life. There are few things he would fight for, but when he does, he will do anything to fight for it, questionable or not.

"Yes, apparently Finn has taken over the body of your advisor." Which Klaus knows is a way to get to him personally. Finn's got plenty of cause to be upset with him, not that Klaus really cares all that much. He's never been fond of his eldest brother. He'd been a treacherous child, and turned into such a bore he just left him in a coffin for nine centuries. "Honestly, I'm surprised he's been able to pull off pretending to be someone else. I've never credited Finn with an overabundance of creativity."

"There's no harm to be done using that information as long as they're here," Rebekah says evenly, studying his face. He hasn't said as much, but his expression is more than clear: he worries that saying something had been the wrong choice, that it had been a mistake, second-guessing himself as he always did when his family's safety was called into question. Unfortunately, the choices he often made to amend those he had come to regret often made things worse.

Telling Cami was safe, she had discerned that much. Cami was trustworthy. Kol less so, but he was family, and if they hoped to rebuild any sort of relationship with him here in this place, rebuild themselves as a family unit, then perhaps a little bit of good faith would go a long way.

"I promise you, Nik. She is as safe as I can make her. We're well-protected, not even the witch I asked for the cloaking spell knows where we are. I'll keep your little girl safe until we're able to deal with our family-- permanently, if we must."

"This place seems to specialize in that which is generally unheard of." The smile she offered him was wry and oddly sympathetic, something that seemed almost out of place, so far gone from the haughty sarcasm she'd had to offer him the first few times they'd met. She could not be certain that anything within him had changed at all, but her own emotions were amplified as well as mingled with those that were distinctly foreign, and she felt another strong tug towards the room itself, causing her to attempt to steal another look past him.

"May I come in?" She did not wait for a response, but instead felt her breath catch as she catches the faintest glimpse of the woman fixed at the center of his memory over his shoulder, a surge of something that was not her own making her chest suddenly feel tight.

I should be glad that he's not here. He has a good life now. Provided Los Angeles makes it through what's about to be unleashed-- he could keep having one.

[Angel had told him to leave town, to take his new parents and run as far as he possibly could in order to keep them safe, but Connor had already defied him once in that respect. He knows his son, despite spending so much of Connor's life apart from him. Listening was not his strong point, just as it wasn't always Angel's.]

When I go back, there's no telling what will be left. Maybe not even enough of a world to have a life in.

"The serum takes what's already there and enhances it," Steve clarified. It wasn't as if he was bragging, either. Those were simply the facts as they had been presented to him before he agreed to the process. As it turned out, Erskine had been right to pick him. Or at least, it hadn't been a complete disaster, and everyone had been pretty thrilled about the outcome, Steve included. The serum changed his life, that was no exaggeration.

At Lydia's question, Steve nodded. "Yeah, I showed him." Bucky had requested to see it, in fact. He had to be desperate for any spare memory that Wonderland might grant him, and here one was, in full moving color. "I think it was good for him to see." Maybe it had helped Bucky reconcile who he was now with who he'd been, a little more.

[She winces, again imagining what morning sickness must have been like. The late night feedings, the lack of sleep - none of that would be easy. Bela notices the locket, quickly deducing that it is of important value to Evelyn. A token from home probably. ]

Did he now? [ Bela smiles. ] They're beautiful. Your family. Not surprising considering the parents, but yeah. [ A pause. ] You should be very proud.

[It doesn't take her long to realise that there was something else on her friend's mind. When she speaks again, her tone is kind and hushed, ready to listen.]

What is it, Evelyn? You can tell me.

The desire to find some way out of this situation is swelling in Souji. He glances up and down the hallway, then gestures James to walk with him.

"Let's go sit down somewhere." ... "Drink tea."

If he can stall, either James will lose interest or whatever is affecting him will pass, he hopes.

[She's honestly surprised he's inviting her back into the room where his personal memory is lurking. She'd invite him back to hers, but a man proclaiming to be an angel dressed as a very suspicious male doctor is probably less exciting for other people than it is for her.

Still, when he opens the door to his room she steps carefully inside, glad to be out of the hallway. She keeps her eyes averted from the memory in the room as much as she can, though. No need to be rude.]

Thank you.

All the while calling herself a demon, Vanessa had once repeated a conversation he'd been a part of word for word--a conversation she couldn't have possibly overheard. He'd seen a creature speak through the bodies of those it had physically deformed and left in a quasi-conscious state. He knew the truth was sometimes uncanny and difficult to comprehend. Having a force tap into his most private self like one tapped a tree for sap was no stranger than the other supernatural events he'd experienced.

He knew it, and yet he was still largely an empirical creature who guarded his personal life jealously. Accepting that whatever was at work had unravelled the boundaries between people's psyches to share memories and emotions remained a bitter mouthful to swallow. Even so, with those same boundaries lowered, Victor found it harder than ever to pretend he was all right, that his world was under control, when it was just the opposite.

Wonderland had dug his world up from its grave and unleashed it upon him as he had once done with Caliban and it was just so--

It was so hard to be alone in this as with everything. Just like it'd been hard to watch his brothers and father move on from his mother's death and be the only one left grasping for more palpable consolation.

Having gone still, it was Rebekah's move to peer past him that caused Victor to stir again; swallowing, he moved to look with her. If put to task, he wouldn't know where to begin untangling what he felt--what either of them felt. Before anything else, he found himself murmuring, "You can see her, too?"

For a while, he'd wondered if his mind wasn't just playing tricks on him.

There's little comfort for him, but that is typical. Repressing so many years of impulsive, untrustworthy behavior is not so easily suppressed. For all that Klaus enjoys bragging about his immorality, strength and power, the weaknesses within his personality itself are always his downfall.

"For the moment, that's all that can be done." Though he will be working on some sort of design in order to make that protection impenetrable. In his mind, there's never too much of it when the person protected is so important. Drastic measures may even be in order, but those can wait.

These very thoughts are what has him changing direction of the conversation, forcing lightness into it with a mischievous look at his sister. "I hope you aren't planning to teach her first word to be your name."

[personal profile] hybrida 2015-03-21 01:17 pm (UTC)(link)
His mouth curves up into a smirk. Not hard to deduce what the opposite would be.

"Good to know." In his life, he hasn't given much thought to angels or demons. The afterlife had always been the Other Side, a purgatory that was as much torture as anything. Not physical, but to be so alone would be it's own form of it. "I'll admit, I've been interested to see how the other side is."

Comparisons of Klaus to the devil have been greatly exaggerated - though there have been times that he imagines when people pictured such an entity, his face appeared. He did enjoy a good terrorizing on occasion, after all.

"Klaus." His introduction is short, and he nods his head toward the hallway. "Mind joining me for a drink?"

The bar, of course, has been basically declared off limits for him as far as some are concerned in the mansion. This means it only makes him pop in much more than he would have otherwise.

Michonne's not usually one for company, not when she's upset. But the conversation is grounding and it helps her focus. And she has no reason no to go back to her room for a little while.

Heading out of the room she rubs a hand over her face, features a little weary before leading the way downstairs. "You feel someone else's emotions, too?"

One day, maybe, Neal will get used to the sudden sound of someone else’s voice in his own head. Today’s definitely not that day though, especially with this vague sense of reluctant relief he can’t place at seeing Philip anyway. It could definitely be worse though; Philip seemed like a pretty okay guy, and Neal can’t exactly hold superhuman abilities against a person—at least not unless they go darkside, or his head really does end up exploding after too many thoughts get forced in there.

So discomfort passes quickly enough, Neal putting on a grin as Philip too admits he’s got a new look to his room. “Yeah, pretty sure it hit everybody. I think it’s supposed to be good memories though. That’s the sense I got after talking to a few people from my world.”

Robin, Henry. Say (think?) what he wants about the event, Philip isn’t going to convince Neal that this isn’t them somehow getting off easy in a way. No one’s been twisted into a raving lunatic (that they know of), even if it’s creepy having their history put on display like that—but then again, Neal’s from a world considered to be fiction anyway. He’s sort of used to it.
