❝ Do you ever feel like your life and everything in it...❞
Who: Kate Fuller & You (Yeah and maybe Richie Gecko okay. This could happen)
Where: Various Locations in Wonderland
When: Early to Mid January.
Rating: PG+ to NSFW.
Summary: Kate settles into Wonderland
The Story: ❝...is just slowly turning upside down, like a ship flipping over in the ocean?❞
ɴ.ʙ I welcome threadjacking from anyone (tagging into ongoing threads to have more than 2 characters in it). That said, if you'd prefer the thread to only be with Kate, just put [closed] in the subject line! Prose or Action is good with me, I'll match whatever I get.

- [ Despite her appearance with Richie at the New Years Eve Ball, Kate's presence in the Mansion is not easily noticed as January rolls around. She keeps to her room on the tenth floor, getting out only when the walls feel like their closing in on her. If encountered during the day, you can be fairly certain that Kate will be alone but as the sun goes down, there's every chance you'll find any conversation you might have with her, interrupted by a tall man with glasses who if you think is sizing you up, undoubtedly is. ]

- [ The house of God had once been a place where Kate felt welcomed with open arms, a sanctuary that wrapped her in peace and warmth in a way that even her home could not. It was one of the few places where she had the certainty of belonging that so few ever found in life and she'd thought it would always be that for her, no matter where her life took her. Now? She wasn't so sure.
It had been many months since Kate had stepped foot in a Chapel and though Richie had shown her the one here in Wonderland as a way of putting her at ease, she already wondered if it existed to torment her more than comfort her. Kate had never wavered in her beliefs, despite all she'd seen and experienced this last year. She'd held firm to the knowledge that God loved her because as far as she was concerned, God was love but having time to stop and think about every choice she'd made, Kate could feel the weight of every one of those decisions whenever she stepped foot inside the chapel.
While she doesn't spend hours on end here, Kate can still be found in the Chapel at various times throughout the day, usually when there doesn't appear to be anyone else around. Always tucked into one of the pews at the back, as if she weren't sure she should really be here at all. ]

- [ While some people took to the magic of Wonderland; the ease and comfort it afforded those who lived here, Kate found it difficult to trust anything that could be achieved without effort. She'd tried eating in the dining room where most people took their meals but these attempts usually ended with her being more hungry than satisfied and she always ended up retreating to the kitchen where she could fix her own meal.
She was hardly what you'd call a gourmet cook, but Kate had always helped her mother in the kitchen and she'd in many ways taken on the role of caretaker in the time since her mother's death. It wasn't like her father had been in a state to do so and Scott? It was a miracle if Kate could get him to set the table.
Used to cooking for two or more, Kate will be prone to making too much and never one to see food go to waste, anyone who happens into the kitchen while she's here will be offered some of whatever she's making. Those who happen to frequent the kitchen might even realize that she's the one responsible for the plates of food that have handwritten notes beneath them, inviting anyone to take it for themselves. ]

- [ When you spend your whole life in the small town of Bethel, Texas, a place that despite the bitter cold that came during Winter, had never seen an inch of snow in the time Kate had lived there, the Winter Wonderland that existed beyond the Mansion walls had its own kind of appeal.
Some days, Kate would be content to sit by a window, a cup of hot chocolate warming her hands as she watched the flurries of snow, dance through the air. On days when the weather was mild enough to dare venture out, however, Kate would don multiple layers of clothing and would brave the biting cold just to experience what for her, was more magical than anything she'd seen inside the mansion.]

- [ Set something up yourself! Kate will explore the various parts of the Mansion so it won't be inconceivable that you'd come across her almost anywhere. She will also be curious about the mirror side of Wonderland so Mirrors! are more than welcome to tag her as well. Alternatively, if you want to hash an idea out with me, you're welcome to PM her journal or hit me up on plurk:

[Her face lighting up like that completely captures his attention for a moment, the snow briefly forgotten.
Until she speaks again and he looks down at himself and the snowsuit he managed to get himself into.]
What else would I be wearing? I'm wasn't gonna go commando.
[...as if there wasn't other options besides those two.]
no subject
[Her tone more gentle teasing than outright mockery.]
One of these days... [Maybe one of these days, she actually would get him into something other than a suit... not that she actually hated that look on him.]
no subject
He smirks at her with a challenging expression.]
One of these day's you'll what...?
no subject
I'll get you to wear something you don't need to iron first.
no subject
[She might be fighting her smile, but he sure isn't. He'll take teasing over her being pissed at him any day of the week. Clearly, he should catch her outside more often.]
And if you say sweatpants, it's never going to happen.
no subject
[The glove she'd taken off gets tossed in his direction but there's no edge to her scolding, no trace of the anger she'd felt on New Years Eve.]
Jeans, Richie. And the kinda shirts you don't have to tuck in.
no subject
[He cocks a brow before he grins and shakes his head.
...speaking of new years eve...]
I thought you said I looked good in a suit.
no subject
I did say that, didn't I.
[The anger she'd felt before was no longer there but she couldn't think about that night with fondness now. The whole evening had been spent with her holding the same drink all night, watching others dance but never enjoying the night herself.
The lack of people wielding pitchforks at their door had her sure that Klaus had kept what he'd seen to himself and she knew she needed to seek him out, thank him if nothing else. She also knew she could never tell Richie her intentions.]
It might not be a bad idea to try blending in a little right now. [Especially because of what happened on New Years Eve.]
no subject
He wishes he could, sometimes.]
I don't think I can blend in much more than wearing a snowsuit in this weather.
[He's never blended in all that great in general, either.]
We'll worry about that later. Gotta take advantage of the snow first.
no subject
All she'd really wanted from that night, had been a little piece of normal and while she felt that Richie had, in some small way, made it impossible that night? If she allows this moment here to be soured? She'd be the one to blame.]
Take advantage of the snow? [Eyebrows raising as she tries to push other matters aside.] You an expert or something?
[And just a hint of the smile from before is there with the slight upturn of her mouth.]
no subject
[He's an expert in a lot of things. Snow isn't one of them, but he had better things to do most of the time.
That doesn't mean he didn't go out into it with Seth from time to time before they got too old.]
Everyone has to make a snow angel at least once in their life. Or so I've heard, anyway.
no subject
There were so many things they should be talking about - the least of which was Klaus and what he did or didn't know about Richie and yet they were standing here talking about making snow angels?
It was the most normal thing Kate could even conceptualize and right now? She could have closed the distance Richie had placed between them and hugged him for it.]
Alright... [The smile that comes erasing the tension that had been there a moment ago.] But you're going to have to show me how it's done.
no subject
But he'll play along.]
Then I better go get under this tree so my face doesn't burn off while I give you my flawless example.
[He's already walking over into the well-darkened shadow of a nearby pine, and once he's protected from the sun he casually lets himself fall back onto the snow which puffs out around him before cascading back down.]
Now watch carefully, this is very delicate work.
[And then he's flapping his arms and spreading and closing his legs, making a proper snow angel. He's clearly and artist.]
no subject
Oh, very delicate. [Laughter spilling over as she sees his creation with him in the center of it and the light was back in her eyes at full force, Kate's teeth rolling over her lower lip as she shakes her head.]
Aren't you freezing? [It's possible she was putting off joining him out of fear of exactly that.]
no subject
[He grins up at her, his expression expectant.]
You gonna join me down here or what?
no subject
Kate thinks she's going to tackle this the cautious way; crouch down and then scoot back on her behind until she's perfectly in position but while that seemed like a sound plan, in theory, moving in six layers of clothes was easier said than done.
At least she's facing the right way when she trips over her own feet, Kate's beanie going flying as she lands flat on her back in the snow.]
Tell me why I'm doin' this again? [Yet despite words that sounded like a protest, she doesn't sound like she's at all unhappy.]
no subject
Like I said, delicate work.
[Now he's smirking because that was fucking hilarious and don't even try to tell him otherwise.]
Because you haven't properly seen your first snow unless you do, that's why.
no subject
It's not funny.
[Oh but Kate. Yes it is.]
So now I just... Flap my arms and legs like you did?
no subject
[At least he's stopped laughing.]
That's it. After you're done, just be careful standing up, but you'll see what happens.
[It's not as easy to see with him still laying in it, because he's sure no angel. Besides, she's a smart girl, he's pretty sure she can picture it.
Picturing things aren't the same as doing them, though.]
no subject
I feel ridiculous. [ That much not a lie, Kate puts her arms out to the side in a way that was very reminiscent of Jesus on the cross, and then just as Richie had done, she moves her arm and legs to create the silhouette of an angel in the powdery white snow.
And now she has to try and get up... which given how she got down here?]
They make it look a lot easier on television. [Snow clinging to her coat and hair as she pushes herself up into a sitting position.]
no subject
Of course, you feel ridiculous. You're supposed to be like four years old the first time you do this.
[He gestures with his eyebrows toward his hand.]
Come on up.
no subject
Lost in that image, it almost appears as if she hesitates, Kate dragging her focus back to the moment as a gloved hand reaches out to accept his help.
The combination of him pulling and her trying to push herself up without ruining the angel she'd left on the ground, sees Kate surge forward, a high pitched squeal that's both laughter and panic filling the air as she tries not to ruin her 'masterpiece' in the process.]
no subject
Careful. You don't want to have to flap your arms like a bird again, do you?
[He lifts a brow down at her, grinning.]
See. [He tilts his head over her shoulder so that she'll take a look.] It's no van Gogh, but...
no subject
Before she can so much as mumble an apology and attempt to disengage, he directs her towards their creations and she leans to her right to look past him.]
It's beautiful... [Cutting off anything else he might have said with words that are full of quiet awe.]
no subject
We can add a halo if you want.
[He points toward the angel's head with an arm over her shoulder.]
