Summary: The Red Queen has thrown a carnival for everyone!
The Story:


From Friday, March 9, through Friday, March 16, the gardens and grounds of the Mansion will be a sprawling a carnival. The masked, unspeaking vendors will be selling trinkets and running free game booths. Carnival rides, exhibits, and foods represent all of the various cultures of those currently residing in the Mansion.


Of particular note, and perhaps incongruously, everything is decorated with red hearts.

1. Figuring things out

[ A body. A body! She's got a body!

It took her barely seconds to decide to go out to the carnival the moment the Red Queen gave her this gift, but she's quickly learning how disorienting it is. She's having to think about things she never did before. Walking. Seeing. Hearing. Talking. Feeling.

Ahhhhh!

Unlike most people who'd be going straight for the fun like games or rides, Monika's unsteadily walking around and trying out her senses. It's strange to feel a breeze, to take in the warmth from the sun, to know the textures of the things she touches. And so many sounds! So many smells! It's overwhelming, but she's loving every bit of it.

This is probably the happiest moment of her horrible existence, and it shows. She's picking things up or randomly saying words. Sometimes she wiggles her fingers. She's constantly shaking her head around to feel her hair shiver around her. Monika Five is alive.

She's going to take these seven days and make the most of them! ]



2. FOOOOOOOD

[ Eventually, it dawned on her. SHE COULD EAT. Not fake pixellated food, but actual food!

Monika spent nearly an hour gathering up all the food and drinks she could find and has carefully assembled everything onto a table. She's sitting in front of an almost literal pile of the stuff, trembling with excitement. Half of it is cold and what was frozen has mostly melted, but she doesn't care. There's everything you'd expect to find at a carnival, as well as a few things people probably shouldn't be eating. Whatever, she's curious.

She decides to start with the cupcakes. ]



3. So much regret

[ In retrospect, she should've known this would happen. Give her a break, though. She's not used to being able to eat.

She's also not used to the consequences of eating so much.

She's laying in front of the fountain in the gardens, motionless, because she couldn't make it much further. She's hating her life as much as she loves it. It's great! And terrible.

Ugh. UGHHHHH. ]



4. Your choice!

[ HAVE FUN! She's going to be out and about as much as she can, all over the grounds, acting like a newborn. ]

[Between the festivities, Jason's taken it upon himself to handle some cleanup. Parties are all well and good, but there's invariably someone who had too much too quickly. When he finds Monika settled inert on the fountain, he kneels down beside her and lifts her hand tentatively.]

...Hey. Partied a little too hard?

[ Monika wants to scream. However, all she can manage is a sad, high-pitched moan. She's still not used to being touched!

However, as she weakly looks over and sees who it is, she's suddenly fine with the person doing the touching. ]

Uh. Yeah. Probably.

[ She tries to move, but nope. That's a fail. So she'll keep to staying still. ]

...I was really hungry.

[Looks like someone finally decided to get out of her room for once...

While Kokichi could probably point at her and laugh, he'd probably be a hypocrite because...]

[ Oh! Her new potential partner in crime! She limply raises an arm as a greeting. ]

It was...all so good.

[ She stares up at the sky and her arm flops back down. ]

(And at some point, a shadow will fall upon her.

Upon spotting her, Legion heads over curiously, and stares, chattering. They raise a headflap.)

[ Monika slowly turns her head away from blankly watching the gurgling water.

And she stares.

Her stomach is too full for more of a reaction. Otherwise, she'd probably be making much more noise. Seeing someone--someones?--on a screen is very different from seeing them in person. ]

H--Hnn.

[ It's almost a hello. She's proud of herself. ]

[Minato was wandering around the carnival too, seeing all of the rides, games, food, anything it had to offer. When he saw someone familiar though, he went over to her, a little worried.]

Are you all right, Monika?

[Since she seemed a bit unsteady on her feet, he reached to hold onto her hand if she needed the help staying upright. He wondered if she was perhaps sick from a ride or the food?]

[ Oh. OH!

Monika stutters to a stop and stares wide-eyed, her lips almost making words but not quite getting there. Someone she likes!

She'd been preparing for this moment for ages. Ages! Sure, he's off limits, but no one's around to police her right now! Ahhh her heart's thumping and it's hard to breathe and her stomach is all gurgly THIS IS AMAZING!

This, combined with having zero sense of volume control, leads to a very enthusiastic greeting. ]

HI, MINATO!

[ Um. ]

Ahaha, er. I.

[ ...Time to stare awkwardly, then. ]

[Souji has been known to eat expired food grass science, so it's not surprising for him to be trawling the food stalls. When he spots Monika and her Mt. Everest of food, he heads over to her.]

[ He catches her right as she's shoving half of a crepe into her mouth.

DAMMIT, THIS IS NOT HOW THEIR FIRST MEETING WAS SUPPOSED TO GO! Ugh, her cheeks are burning!

...Her cheeks are burning! Haha! What a great feeling! She lets out a pleased, muffled laugh through all the whipped cream and strawberries. Then she realizes how gross and unladylike this all looks, so she quickly stuffs the rest of the crepe into her face and swallows it. Its slow, arduous journey down to her stomach gives her time to wipe away the carnage left on her mouth. ]

Ahahaha, of course not! That'd be silly!

[ Spoiler alert: that's a lie. ]

[ Her first instinct is to laugh her ass off. By some miracle, she refrains. Mikan is her frieeend, after all! Hahaha, and it's so funny when friends nearly crack their skulls open!

...Oh, right. She should, like. Help or something. Monika gets up and stands over Mikan with her hand out, pressing her lips together since that laughter is being really persistent. ]

[ Just when Monika seems to be having the time of her life, Monokuma pops up beside her. He only goes up to around her thigh. ]

Hey Monika-chan! Lets go ride the ferris wheel!

[ Monika very nearly falls over. She's unsteady enough as it is!

Her head jerks around, searching for the source of that grating voice, until she eventually looks down.

...She has probably never looked so disappointed in her life. ]

Go away, Smokey! There's probably a forest fire somewhere!

Monika-kun! Is that you? Good afternoon! [He realizes he's only talked with her over the network before. It's nice to finally see her in person!]

[ She guffaws just as loudly as her boisterous greeting, looking ever so pleased. So many of her lover--friends are out and about! Probably couldn't wait to see her, the little scamps. ]

[ Adachi had been making his way away from all the noise and commotion-- the food had been alright, and seeing the Mirrors mingle among the Reals had been interesting, but there's only so much carnival a man can take in one dose.

As he's doing so, though, he steps on something distinctly soft and warm, and trips, nearly falling flat on his face. ]

Ah!

[ Unbalanced, he windmills his arms a little, and glances back to see what he'd stepped on-- oh, it's a girl. It's that girl. ]

Oh no! A-are you okay, Ms. Monika? I'm sorry, I didn't see you there! [ It's almost weird to see her during a reasonable hour, instead of the early hours of the morning. Annoying little airhead. ] I didn't hurt you, right?

[ For a while, she doesn't seem to react. Then she abruptly sits up and starts vigorously rubbing the spot he stepped on. ]

Owwwww!

[ Oh, wow. Is this what real pain feels like?

...SHE'S EXPERIENCING REAL PAIN! She starts to laugh uncontrollably and stops rubbing, enjoying the stinging feeling. ]

Food

[Sayori, of course, has been helping herself to the food and snacks for a good part of the day. Right now, she's got herself a giant cookie, and there's crumbs around her mouth from tearing into it.

There's a blue scarf around her neck.]

Hi Monika - whoa!

[She takes in all the food Monika has laying out. It's a lot but... maybe Monika has the same kind of appetite that Sayori does.]

[ Monika briefly takes on the demeanor of a wolf protecting its kill. NO. HER FOOD.

Oh. It's her.

She begins to laugh, automatically pulling a plate of cookies out of Sayori's reach. ]

It's amazing! I wish I had two stomachs!

[ She then snorts at Sayori's appearance. Fucking slob. ] I see you've been enjoying yourself, too~

[Lucretia's a little hesitant to approach the carnival when it pops up; sure, Wonderland has given them nice things before, especially things gifted by the Red Queen. But seeing as she was just at the Vendors and had a less than savory trade about a week ago, this whole shift seems... very odd. She's wrapped up in her thoughts as she strolls through the outskirts when she feels someone bump into her, and she instinctively reaches out to make sure whoever it is-- a young girl, by the looks of it-- doesn't fall.]

My apologies-- I wasn't looking where I was going. Are you alright?

Reveling in a bit of gluttony today, I see. [He gestures to the cupcake in her hand.] A good start, if you ask me.

[ Sam would never describe himself as outgoing, necessarily, but he is a Helper. Which is why he notices the girl lying down in the gardens on his way to the carnival. ]

- Uh. [ He slows to a stop, brows lifting in concern as he tries to suss out if she's actually hurt or not, or if she's just had a little too much fun. ] ... You okay, Miss?

[It turns out running full speed through a crowded carnival is a bad idea. Greg blinks and looks up, ready to just apologize, but then he realizes who he ran into.]
